Great cocktails, cool atmosphere although I feel the lights could be dimmer in the evenings.
When I walked in, they had Recess playing on the TVs, which immediately transported me to Sunday mornings as a kid watching cartoons - so that was cool.
The service was a tad slow in my opinion as we were the only people in the bar, aside from a single person at the bar.

The quality of the food made much to be desired. Great flavours, but everything was either overcooked or hard. Staff were nice, although I don’t think I would return (based on food quality).

I really don't know if I'll ever come back here. Last Saturday one of their beer lines wasn't working. Seems like an immediate fix is needed. Well on Wednesday none of the beer lines were working. Guess that original issue wasn't much of a concern for them. Service is also very questionable. Expecting one server to do all of the tables won't work. The first visit my wife ordered a cocktail that came in a tall glass. I just went to their website expecting a menu to find the name of the cocktail. There appears to be no menu for some reason. Well on Wednesday the same cocktail came in a short glass. She said it definitely did not taste as good. For $16/cocktail you'd expect more consistency. It's as simple as that. You can't expect $16 for a cocktail + tax + tip and have no consistency. The first visit I'm glad I got to try the Aqua Nova for the first time. One of the few restaurants to offer that. But I am very unimpressed.

I genuinely really loved this place. Really unique, unlike any other place I've been to. It really feels like they set up an atmosphere for connecting and conversing, while happening to be served great food, and great drinks. I'm really impressed and I will definitely be going back.

My partner and I just went here for the first time last night, the food was absolutely amazing. I loved the atmosphere. My partners favourite was the deep fried pickles. 100% recommend trying this place if you haven’t yet!

Maybe it was just bad luck as they are changing menu's over but 3 dishes were not avail, and another was missing a main piece of it (Bao Bun wo the Bao bun, had it on lettuce) and no new dishes ready to substitute these for. The other piece was that the flavors were great but execution was lacking on most dishes, in some way or another. Examples - Tacos, the corn tortilla's seemed to have been heated way earlier in the day and used when ordered, they were dry and very chewy, not how they should be when heated fresh for the meal and the korean fried chicken on the one taco was overcooked. Pork Belly was also overcook to the point of some pieces being closer to jerky than pork belly. The 2 things that stood out as exceptional were the Double and the Ki-lime cocktail - they were both fantastic! Other reviews are overall fantastic so maybe I was just there on an off night.

Great spot for some inexpensive shareable eats. Would definitely come back... doesn't hurt that the washrooms are also super clean!
I really wanted to like this, like REALLY. Merk being promoted on so many Instagram pages I had such high hopes for the place so got together with some friends and made a night out of it. Maybe it was an off day but for my first time;
Good- the atmosphere is electric, nice indoor space and outdoor patio quiet from Ottawa traffic. Cocktails looked great coming out to tables, overall vibe is nice. The dip was fantastic same with the Korean chicken, highlyyyyy recommend. Price for everything split between the 4 of us was great.
Not so good- first time in my life I’ve had crunchy bao buns, a lot of our food sat for a bit and came out cold, not sure if they were understaffed but things took a long while to get out. Service was meh, again, I play on the side of “they may have been understaffed” when it wasn’t overly busy. Everyone has an off day, overall I’m severely disappointed but willing to give it another shot
The pork belly boa buns had the smallest piece of meat and one sliver of carrot with no sauce. The tacos tasted like they came from a presesembled kit. Nothing tasted fresh or had any flavour.
The double was $8 and can be eaten in 4 bites. There is no way that any of this food is made fresh.
Half the menu was also unavailable.
For the price, the value is not there. I would consider the quality, comparable to fast food.
I've eaten tapas several times before and this menu is incredibly disappointing.
I'm not sure how a place like this stays in business.
I'm sorry to say but this is the worst eating experience I've ever had in Hamilton.
