This place has always been the spot to go for any occasion, whether it be a celebration or just a nice night out. I've been to lots of amazing restaurants here in Hamilton but nothing quite compares.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a great steak, fish, or other. everything's great.
First time trying Shakespeare’s and what a wonderful experience - the food was delicious, one of the best French Onion Soups I’ve ever had. The garlic bread was amazing! You can feel the love put into the food. On top of the excellent food, the service was impeccable. Leo made the experience a memorable one, as did the whole family, and I look forward to coming back!
I don’t often return to a restaurant within weeks, but Shakespeare’s Steak and Seafood left such a lasting impression, I had to come back — just to be sure my taste buds hadn’t imagined it. Spoiler: they hadn’t.
This time, I opened with their French onion soup, a house special. It was rich, savory, and exactly what this classic should be — slow-cooked caramelized onions swimming in a deep, flavorful broth, topped with a golden, bubbling layer of cheese and toasted bread that held its texture to the last spoonful.
For the main, I chose the filet mignon. Perfectly cooked, tender as butter, and seasoned with restraint — a dish that speaks through its quality, not embellishment.
Even the complimentary bread deserves praise — warm, with a delicate crust that gives way to an unbelievably soft interior. One bite in, and you get it — they don’t cut corners here.
What made the night even better was the service. Our waiter, Biniam, was the embodiment of hospitality — upbeat, positive, and made us feel like we were guests at a family table, not customers in a dining room.
And then there’s Chef Franco — a legend in his own right, with over 50 years of experience. His presence isn’t just felt in the food, but in the atmosphere. He makes it a point to check in, ensuring every guest is satisfied. That kind of commitment is rare, and it shows in every detail.
This isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a place that understands warmth, flavor, and legacy. And I’ll be coming back again.
Bravo!! Amazing food and staff! Inspiring that the chef has owned restaurant since his 20s and now in his 80s. He is so cute and comes by every table to say hi!! Great atmosphere and best steak I have ever had! Highly recommend for a special night out!
Best restaurant in hamilton, hands down! Been around for a long time for a reason! Love it there. TOTALLY RECOMMEND.
We had amazing service, food, and atmosphere. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Hamilton! Leo was our waiter, and he is exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always goes above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Truly a standout!
comparing to my favorite steakhouse Barbarians. Steak wasn't as good but was still really good. Service just as good. Sides just as good. French onion soup smaller but just as good. Side potatoes were just as good. side veg ultra basic and I would ditch it for more of the potatoe side. Drinks were just as good. Decor and interior was nicer, cleaner and in better shape. NOW THE PRICE. it's MUCH more affordable. For the price I would rather Shakespeare's! it's $30 cheaper on steaks and $10 cheaper on apps and such. For the price you cannot go wrong or beat it.
A great experience over all!
This is a Hamilton treasure, it is first Class and expensive but worth every penny.
That was unbelievably good experience!
I loved everything from the very first moment I opened the door of this restaurant.
The absolutely sweet lady picked up our coat and then we entered the restaurant. The waiters were all friendly, moderately talkative, and witty. They easily adjusted to our communication style and created friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
As soon as we sit at the table we were immediately served with water and some complimentary snacks and were provided with menus.
The waiters are knowledgeable about the menu and can really present and sell it without pressure and in enjoyable ways.
The food itself was good. I definitely want to try some other options they have next time.
The atmosphere was great! Not too loud music, so we could talk easily. Other guests far enough so we don’t interfere each others.
Even though the place closed at 10 pm, no one was rushing us to leave and let us stay and enjoy our meal and wait for the car till almost 11 pm.
Absolutely great experience. And I even say so far the best in my almost 3 years in Canada.
Thank you all and best wishes to your business!

We came for our anniversary dinner and were thrilled. The restaurant is intimate and feels like stepping into a classic, old world steakhouse. Food was great and priced well. Service was excellent. Garlic bread and French Onion Soup were total hits and some of the best I’ve had. We’re excited to go back soon!
Great place, decent steak and probably best bread in Canada
Timeless Hamilton Classic!
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu in this establishment. Great food and cuts in a unique atmosphere.
Service is always exceptional.
Undoubtedly, one of Hamilton's most delightful and inviting spots. The atmosphere is unmatched, complemented by exceptionally friendly service. The food is truly outstanding—setting a standard that surpasses expectations. While it may not be inexpensive, the value far exceeds what you'd find at chain steakhouses like The Keg. This establishment is a gem worth every penny.
Staff was exceptionally accommodating with my son's nut allergy went above and beyond expectations
