I've always known about Steve's Open Kitchen but never actually been to it before until this past weekend when my friend mentioned wanting just a classic dinner type spot and I knew this was the perfect opportunity. The food was delicious, staff was very attentive on the coffee refills. The only thing I saw that could be a problem for some was a few larger groups trying to rejig tables and keep switching to make room to fit them all. But we were just 2 so no issue for us and everything was delicious in a relaxed casual atmosphere.

Last Saturday went and it was closed, yet Google says it's open. Disappointing. Nothing on website regarding being closed for a week. Poor management and delivery of information. Tiny covered up sign hard to read in storefront. Will not be going back.

I absolutely love this place. It's my favourite breakfast in the city! It's not fancy, but that's the absolute charm of the place. If you're looking for a cosy diner with fantastic, friendly service and great food that comes quickly, Steve's is the place for you! Lorraina is the absolute best; it's like catching up with a friend every time I go. If you are looking for something upscale, this is likely not what you're looking for, but if you're looking for a slice of the city, definitely check out Steve's. FYI, I have seen other reviews saying they only accept cash, but this is not the case (unless their machine was down or something); I always pay by debit.Vegetarian options: If you are vegan, you will have trouble finding something on the menu, but if you're an ovo-lacto vegetarian, there's lots of options! I don't eat red meat myself, so I usually swap out the meat in the classic breakfast for tomato slices. They are quite easy going about simple substitutions like that, which is really nice. Also, their omelettes are soo good and there is almost always a veggie option or one that can be made vegetarian by asking them to leave out the meat.Dietary restrictions: They do have gluten-free toast most of the time (they run out from time to time), which is great for the gluten intolerant.Parking: There is some free and paid street parking on the street out front and on nearby streets as well as a paid parking lot close by, about a 3 minute walk away on Young St. at Hughson St. S.

Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting a friend for breakfast at Steve's Open Kitchen, and it turned out to be an absolutely delightful experience. The inviting atmosphere, exceptional food, and excellent service combined to make the visit memorable. What pleasantly surprised me even further was the affordability—the prices were excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend giving Steve's Open Kitchen a visit for a satisfying and reasonably priced dining experience with outstanding service.

Me and my two friends from UK and Spain travelled to Canada this weekend to visit some family. As we were in town we stop by at Steve’s diner and got some breakfast. At first it was super nice and such a nice diner vibe. The owners were SUPER nice and they were very welcoming. The food we ordered took forever for a diner and my party and I were very frustrated about it. When the food came we were already upset and expecting a great meal but got an average low portioned breakfast meal. Also the menu is not the same as the website and is nearly double the price now. Fantastic people but just not the place to go for breakfast unfortunately.

Ive had bene at various places over the years. Maybe a hundred. Anyways. Well done mate.I wish they had vegan avacado toast so my wife can join me.Staff are great. Most of the customers are great.Overall. Real happy this place is here.

The decor is charming and seasonal, the location excellent and it seems nice and clean. The servers were personable and professional. The menu was limited but the food was quality and prepared well.
