Went here today. Took us forever to find the place because first of all, they're called "Chicken Zone" for some reason. Right away, the atmosphere felt strange. There was no music playing, and a ton of moving boxes in the middle of the store. The table next to ours had dirty dishes on them the entire time we were there. I thought they had just moved here but when I asked, they said they've been here for years. They didn't have any tissues/napkins. A restaurant with no tissues/napkins? The utensils were sticky. Don't know if it just wasn't clean, or if it was left over dish soap residue. We got fries and fried pork cutlet curry which were both decent. However, the dessert (which we came here for) tasted horrible. The waffle was cold and dry (literally tasted like it was made days ago and left out) and had no flavour. The sago and "pearls" in the strawberry spoon drink were clumped together and overcooked, half of them melted and all of them misshapen and hard to chew, with way too much strawberry concentrate (so it was extremely strong and sour and artificial tasting). I don't usually write bad reviews but after having to pay $42 for some curry, fries, and inedible dessert, this was well deserved.

The waffle was old and not even warmed up and there were literally 2 strawberry slices with it.Very disappointed as we were hoping to find a nice dessert place in town.

That's $12 without tax on Uber eats.I have order durian cake from other places and it's $44 with half portion of a cake. Same quality. I don't know what is this... It's like 1/12 portion of a cake, and with this price. How much money do they want to earn to keep their store open?

I actually literally found paper inside my drink.I didn’t even open my drink. Utterly disgusted. I ordered via Uber eats so I doubt this place will refund anything back

Not sure what happened to the other location in Hamilton, but this one on Main st w sucks. Went at night once for dessert, I asked about the shaved ice bowl and paid for it. It comes to our table and turns out they were "out of the cream" that is used to put in the bowl...so we just ate ice cream. Paid for a $12 dessert and ended up eating ice cream. She could have at least told us upon ordering that they are out of some of the ingredients...it was ridiculous.

No longer cash only! New location is bright, clean and accomodates space for both restaurants (food and dessert). They're stepping it up big time, plenty of parking (just off MacNab), handmade dumplings - will definitely be back to try more than just the food. Had the Green Tea Egg Waffle and the Brown Sugar Bubble tea. Open til 1amish - it's winter so if it's slow they may close early. Call ahead if that's a deal breaker.

I placed an order for four durian fusion rolls on dec. 1st on Door Dash. I didnt received anything at my door because they weren't open at the time but they are on door dash.. also they never pick up the phone. I wouldn't bother with this restaurant its always a hit or miss with them.

*WARNING* DO NOT EAT HERE, RESTAURANT IS A SCAMI have never felt so ripped off in my life. I ordered the curry chicken cutlet rice bowl (see photo added). The difference is massive. Honestly in my opinion, it looks like they spent less then $2 to make this. I paid $14. The chicken wasn't even visible, I had to dig to the bottom of the curry to find only 3 pieces of chicken (with the thickness of a fry). This is a terrible and scummy business practice. This is like buying a microwaveable dinner from Wal-Mart, but at least I know what I'm getting from there.

I don’t think I’ve ever left a business review before in my life, but the food at Sugar Marmalade tonight was so shocking that I feel compelled to put it into the universe.I now understand after having Googled it (not just seeing it on Uber Eats) that it is intended to be a dessert restaurant, but my husband and I ordered the chicken curry which was inedible (every piece of chicken was simply bone and fat – I didn’t eat even a morsel of chicken. Not even ONE). One curry came with cheese on it, which was clearly a processed cheese (like a Kraft single) and had a fully plastic taste (like it had gone off or been sprayed with chemicals).I want to support small businesses right now, but wow. It was god awful. We had to order pizza right afterwards, and throw out the entire order. I’m sorry.
I’ve been ordering from this business on and off within my few years of living here and it has easily become one of my favorite spots. Food is consistent quality, the cutlet dishes are very flavorful with reasonable portions and the Japanese style popcorn chicken is especially a favorite. I have only ever tried the jelly deserts and specialty drinks but the quality of the fruit and jellies are lovely as well as the cream bases to these dishes being rich. Became one of my favorite deserts and generally this business has become one of my comfort food spots.Very much recommend any of the ice cream+jelly combo dishes. Give this place a chance it’s a calm atmosphere and the food is lovely!

Have only tried a few things, watermelon juice, cheese cake and strawberry Lime Italian soda.My friend swears the white chocolate/blueberry cheese cake is the Best, watermelon juice is super cold and refreshing, the Italian soda was also very good but make sure you give it a good stir first.The take out cups are absolutely adorable when you order an Italian soda.

It did not come with either Strawberry's or Banana's. The waffle itself I needed a serated knife to cut it. Extremely hard waffle. Next were my daughters Durian pancakes. These tasted like mold. The special fries my son had were good he said and the two types of bubble tea were also good but even after we made sure to ask for straws. They came without straws.When we contacted Uber Eats. So sad to bad here's a 5 dollar coupon for you next order....65 dollars and two thirds of the food was uneaten. Uber eats, not impressed with there lack of customer service. I will not use Uber eats again. And Suger Marmalade you lack of quality food products and assurance of all products sold goes to the customer is very concerning. How do you sell Strawberry Banana Waffles, without Strawberry or Banana's?

Ordered several dishes and was really disappointed and honestly quite angry.Received a 9$ dessert (mango sago) that came in the tiniest takeout container and it was only 75% full. I've ordered this exact dessert before and it came in a container double the size. In total there's probably about 175 mL of the actual dessert in the container. (When in store, you would normally receive atleast 400-500 mL)Tried contacting them via phone, no one answers and it goes straight to voicemail, which is full, so I can't even leave a message + messaged them on facebook---no reply.Pretty well deserved 1 star rating.

I’ve been ordering from this business on and off within my few years of living here and it has easily become one of my favorite spots.
