A Hamilton Landmark that I've been in and out of for the past 3 decades, now being run by a wonderful couple whom you can really tell enjoy being pub owners and it's that enthusiasm that spills forth and it shows in their greetings and interactions with their customers whom are warmly welcomed & served under their watchful eyes and treat their loyal regulars like family. The menu carries Pub favorites such as Chicken Wings and Fresh-Cut Fries which are done flawlessly here ( My favorites are the Dusted Wings tossed in Medium Jerk Sauce with Fresh-Cut Poutine Fries and a Frosty Pint of Strongbow Cider). In Historic Hess Village just blocks from the city core,The Gown and Gavel sports one of the most Dynamic Licensed Patio's in Hamilton which has Always been The "It' Spot!! Cheers!!

Our recent visit to Gown and Gavel exceeded all expectations, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Lucas, our server. Despite arriving without a reservation for our party of 8, Lucas went above and beyond to accommodate us, showcasing a level of hospitality that truly stood out.The menu offerings were not only diverse but also delivered on taste and quality. From start to finish, the food was amazing, adding a delicious layer to our overall experience. Lucas' attentiveness and dedication to ensuring our satisfaction elevated the evening, making it one to remember.In the midst of a bustling atmosphere, Gown and Gavel's staff, particularly Lucas, managed to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for our group. Looks like a nice place. We were a Group of 6, we all had food and drinks, 3 of us got severe food poisoning. Sick for days. Never coming back again. I told everybody I know about this. The waiter was not friendly, split the bill wrong and told us to figure it out between us.

Terrible experience here. Men in the line were being rude is disrespectful to women in the line. Security did nothing about it after talking to them several times about it. This establishment clearly cares more about making money than the experience they provide their customers.
the security guards here did nothing when we brought to their attention the men that were harassing us. we told them about these men that were being very rude to us and disrespecting our friend and the security did nothing to resolve the problem.

Managers were all extremely rude. The restaurant itself is homophobic, as my gay male friend wearing a tank top was prohibited from entering because they “have a policy that tank tops on males are not allowed for over 10 years”. However, shortly after, they allowed a male in who was wearing a tank top (he was straight-passing). Additionally, I arrived at 7:45pm and was prohibited from entering because they “had a reservation” at the table we saw available. The security was uninformed on the restaurant policies and told us it would be another hour until we could enter (with paying cover), but shortly, another employee came over and said we could enter in the next 10 minutes. Staff were short with us and gave us very dirty looks, which would be more understandable if we were being unpleasant, but we were very kind and courteous. After entering, the table we pointed out earlier was not occupied for the next two hours. The waitress rudely dismissed us and said that the kitchen was closed for the night (it was 8:15) and said that if we wanted to order drinks we would have to go to the bar. Overall, all of the employees were extremely disrespectful and clearly did not care about their clients. Would not recommend unless there is no cover and you are not planning on eating or drinking.

Came here august 26th and felt like I was a standing Olympian. Make it an event at the Olympics and I’m a house hold name after being here. If you don’t get here at 8pm forget it. It’s tragic when the “fast” line isn’t moving either. I’ve never seen anything like it.Vegetarian options: Just don’t bother
