The food was very good, but the service was slow. We were at the restaurant prior to a concert at the TD colosium. We had 90 minutes for dinner, and mentioned that we had to leave by 7:30, but the service was slow, and our main arrived at 7:20, so we did not really enjoy or finish our meal.

My friends and I have been wanting to try The Standard for quite a while, but we could never seem to get reservations when we were planning to visit Hamilton. We were thrilled when we finally secured a table. It was well worth the wait. The food and service were both incredible. The biscuits are the best I've ever had, and I would go back weekly just for those. The smoked meat Benedict is also fantastic, as are the chicken and waffles. I can't to go back during my next visit and try more of these incredible dishes.

Been here for breakfast and lunch and it hits every time. It's a cliche to say that ingredients are important but these guys really seem to care - for instance, I wouldn't have expected this place to have the best oysters I've had in Hamilton. Service is inobtrusive and efficient. Becoming one of my go-to establishments when in town.

The Belgian Noel beer dinner was amazing - beer and food pairings were excellent. Every course was a revelation! And the stories about the beers, breweries, and travelling in Belgium added to the experience. Would highly recommend!!

We had dinner at this restaurant last night and the food was absolutely fabulous. Our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and truly made the evening enjoyable. I do want to mention an issue regarding the cake policy. When I made the reservation, I asked if I could bring a cake and whether there was a cake-cutting fee. I was told there was no charge. When we arrived, I was informed there would be a $7 cake-cutting fee, which I accepted. Later on, I was surprised to learn that the fee was actually $7 per person for slicing and plating the cake for our group of eight, which hadn't been communicated beforehand. When I asked to speak with the manager, our server kindly stepped in and said he would handle the situation himself. He acknowledged the miscommunication and chose not to charge us the cake-cutting fee, which we really appreciated. Aside from that misunderstanding, everything else—from the atmosphere to the service and food—was wonderful.
The food was flavorful and expertly prepared, the service was attentive and welcoming, and the overall hospitality created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The Standard will consistently deliver a memorable dining experience that exceeds expectations.

A little noisy, past comfort level for easy conversation. But the food was incredible. Our server Ryan was an absolute delight and the cocktails were very tasty. Would highly recommend!

Our experience at The Standard had its ups and downs when we visited! We had requested a main dining table for 2 through OpenTable but unfortunately there was no table when we arrived and were seated at a high top instead. Then unfortunately they were out of the only pasta dish on the menu which my partner had really wanted to try. After that we did get our app and meals which were delicious, but we never saw our server again for over 45 minutes. At this point we did wave down another waiter who really gave us excellent service and comped a beer we had ordered and waited for about 25 minutes on. All in all the food was delicious and we left on a better note at the end of the night!

Very nice and well kept restaurant. Mixed drinks were a little inconsistent for quality but selections for beer and wine were very good. The food was slightly underwhelming as presentation was better then overall taste and the steak I ordered MedRare was on the bluer side of rare with heavy char. Our apps were delicious however and service was prompt and knowledgeable and check-ins were just right for me. Overall we would go back to give a few more things a try but cost wise I expected a bit more from the kitchen on taste/flavour/cook temps.
