Big Bone BBQ & Wicked Wings - Kanata

Ordered the big bone platter, the smoke, rub and sauce on the wings and ribs was really good! The wings were probably some of the best I have had in a long time. Unfortunately have my ribs were extremely charred, which really took away from the great flavour they built on the smoker. The sides felt like beans out of can, and coleslaw out of a bag, not really what you expect from a BBQ joint, just seems plain and boring. If you’re going to order here I’d recommend the smoked wing on their own, that’s all I felt was worth the money. It’s too bad this place had a huge potential, just feel like they limit themselves.

Big Bone BBQ didn’t just feed me—they challenged my entire caloric intake strategy. I usually crush 4,000 calories a day like it’s a hobby, but after this feast, I think my stomach filed a noise complaint. The ribs were unreal, the chicken was divine, and the portion size? Let’s just say I left questioning my life choices… and also planning my return.

Great visit. The owner was there, and happily explained that he cooks Memphis style, which emphasizes the rub, instead of drowning the meat in sauce. The sauce itself was thinner than the thick, smoky tomato stuff you'd expect, but complemented the meats really well.

I had the Elvis platter, which is ribs, pulled pork, and smoked wings. I switched the french fries out for sweet potato fries. Portions on everything were generous. Beans were ordinary, but the corn bread was nice.

The person I went with ordered a grilled chicken burger. It looked like a nice piece of meat. Usually, they take their time eating, but the burger vanished.

Prices were very fair, especially for the quality of the food, and particularly because barbecue is usually so expensive in Ottawa. I'm definitely going back.

Food is good and serving size vs. cost is good. I am glad there are places in Ottawa to get decent BBQ. Everything I've tried here is good. The only thing I'd fault them for is their service. If they had a friendly welcome with a bit of direction when you enter, maybe a smile, then I'd increase my star rating.
Otherwise if you are in the west end of the city, Big Bone BBQ is worth a try.

Dec 16 2024 4:00pm I called and made a order for pickup and when I got there I asked if they had forks and the young man serving me gave me forks. I didn’t tip because I don’t tip when I pick up food it’s not like I’m sitting down and your bringing my a glass of water. the next day I call and order more food because it was good and a fair price. The person who served me the previous day told me when I picked up the food that the forks were already in the bag. He remembered that I wanted forks through the phone call. This is going above and beyond my expectations so I tried to give him $5 cash for himself and he refused and told me just to put it in the tip jar to I assume share with the team. This checks every box of a quality person he deserves a good raise because you can trust him to take care of customers and you want to keep classy individuals like himself for as long as you can.

My only complaint is on the food I ordered a Texas poutine it comes with brisket and it was great but they were such big pieces of brisket you couldn’t fit any fries with it so maybe next time I’ll just ask if they could cut the brisket into smaller pieces but it was still really good.

I am a regular client ordering deliveries all the time. Recently the chicken BBQ are arriving highly dry, and no moisture and some burned. And the fries like they have been cooked twice. At first I ignored maybe it's one time thing but now it has been 3 times and even after reporting this it's the same. This is the last time il order front this and it's a shame because you charge very high price and you used to offer high quality BBQ . Now since some time things have been extremely declining in value. For 40$ invoice very bad quality.

Delicious beef brisket sandwich. My friends had the ribs and chicken wings combo and loved them. I will be going back to try them myself.
