Tremendous food in a cozy space, we had a great time with some of the finest dishes we've tasted on our trip through Canada. Highly recommend!
We were disappointed . Service was outstanding. And the choices seemed appealing. However we were surprised to discover a batter or coating on most of the dishes. The wild boar tacos, the bison & the catfish, all covered with some kind of coating. We found this took away from the flavour of the meats. The bison was so salty it was inedible. The charge was waived for that item. The Brie was delicious, but enough for 3 or 4 people. The Fois gras was, well, different. We found the feta a bit overpowering. The lemon pie was perfect. So was the cocktail. All in all, we enjoyed our evening (although no mention of the birthday which was flagged on the reservation). We just feel for the price paid - and all the wonderful reviews - the food was just too underwhelming.
We lived the quiet atmosphere, friendly service and of course, the amazing food. We enjoyed the suggested selections of tartare and braised lamb. Beautiful plating and presentation.
After a long COVID break we went to Amuse on a Wednesday evening. The server was the best, warmly greeting us and engaging is conversation during the meal. We had the Tuna Tatare that was excellent. Then ordered the Lamb Shank and the Paella to share. The Lamb Shank was the winner.
Amuse Restaurant is well worth trying, if you’re looking for great food and a wonderful overall experience! My wife and I were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary and we’re treated like royalty in this cozy restaurant. Our evening started off with complimentary prosciutto wrapped pickles and goat cheese. The sharing plates we chose were the Figs and Grilled lamb chops. Both dishes were excellent but the Lamb chop made us wish that we didn’t have to share it. Soooo… delicious! Desert was a deconstructed key lime pie which was equally delicious! Amuse offered an Excellent selection of wines and a complimentary cocktail from our server Helene (“Elle”) to finish our delightful evening! She was so professional, efficient and very friendly. She made our experience unforgettable! Also Kudos to chef Dylan who took great pride in serving our dinner as he described the tasty dishes himself. We highly recommend Amuse and can’t wait to go back!
We just enjoyed a delectable array of deliciousness at Amuse! Yes, it’s hiding in a strip mall, but once inside, ordinary is entirely left behind! Tasteful decor and mood music set the tone. This is fine dining at its best. From the charcuterie board, to the lamb chop and quail share plates, to the chocolate crème brûlée and poached pears….we couldn’t have been more pleased! Our waiter Charles was efficient and congenial. He even passed on his recommendations for restaurants and wineries he thought we’d enjoy as we travel next to Quebec City and Niagra Falls! Thank you Amuse for a memorable dining experience!
Book a reservation on the strength of Tripadvisor reviews. We do not get to Kanata regularly so this was a pleasant departure from Normal pedestrian roadhouse venues, quaint and funky. The service from Andrea was perfect and attentive, the advice superb, my lady follows a gluten free diet, so menu items were adapted to her sensitivities. Above all the food was superb and the presentation even better. Want to impress a loved one, take the to Amuse!
Like all the previous reviews I can say it is a real hidden gem or Kanata's best-kept secret. When we first arrived we asked the Uber driver to wait for a little bit as we were not sure what to expect from a restaurant in front of a carwash in a gas station strip mall. To our surprise, everything ended up a really enjoyable meal and a wonderful evening. Starting with our server Charles his humor and his knowledgeable advice or nice little stories or drinks recommendations. The food was amazing! In between the 4 of us, we shared 8 plates and desserts and I can say every single one of them was exquisite. The fine attention to detail and little special touch made every dish outstanding. We will definitely have to come back to try the rest of the menu. The food and wine were reasonably priced for the quality we did get. Congratulation to the chef and all the staff for an amazing unforgettable evening!
We visited this restaurant for a change of scenery from the downtown restaurants and were pleasantly surprised. This petit gem is warm, welcoming and beautifully decorated. The charcuterie plate was lovely, the mains were great, and the dessert was divine. The service was warm and friendly. It was certainly worth the drive from downtown and we will visit again.
Two of us shared four plates and we’d be hard pressed to pick a favourite! Can’t wait to come back so we can try four more plates. Thank you, Amyse staff, for the outstanding and fun service. An incredible dining experience in every way

Do not be dissuaded by the location of this restaurant which is directly across from a gas station in a strip mall. The service was spot on the food was amazing and the ambiance transported you to a better place. There are a number of shared plates and charcuterie plates. I ordered the lamb chops, it’s ok not to share. They were cooked to perfection. I recommend this place and plan on being a repeat customer when I return to Canada
This restaurant deserves a shout out! The owner, Joshua, made sure a small table was ready for our dinner for two outside, even though they don’t have a traditional patio due to space restrictions. Most guests dine inside, for medical reasons I was not able to, and Josh accommodated that, and our waiter made the table and the experience feel like fine patio dining, making the surroundings not important at all. A small table cloth, a custom made drink after a quick description of what we would enjoy, a complimentary appetizer and we were immediately impressed! The appetizer was amazing from the first bite! We shared three plates, salmon, shrimp and beef salad. The salmon sushi plate was served first. Outstanding! So many added flavours combined perfectly. Next was served the shrimp, accommodated with squash spaghetti as my friend is gluten free, alongside the steak salad plate! We ended with an orange infused crème brûlée! Our waiter was fun, engaging and attentive even though it meant him often checking on us outside! Every bite of the sharing plates, amazing. Dessert, amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a stand out dining experience!
I would like to write a lengthy, insightful review BUT I was never even seated. I reserved online and showed up a few minutes before my 7:30 reservation to a mostly empty venue. I gave my name and told them I reserved online. The had no record of my reservation and told me that they could not accommodate my party of 2. Avoid.
We had a great evening... the server was very attentive and flexible. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Beef, fish, lamb were all delicious. Hot and tasty.
Amuse continues to be our favourite restaurant in the city. We decided to order all of the appetizers instead of going for the mains this time, and every single small plate was like a work of art. The elk tartare and the salmon tartare melted in your mouth. The brussel sprouts were simply delicious and would be a childhood favourite if they would always be served like this. The owner is kind, personable and professional. We have loved every dinner here and always look forward to coming back.
