For a Caribbean restaurant the Mac and cheese was loose and disgusting. Seemed like they were running out of cheese too. No taste. I would have had better luck at a regular restaurant in Ottawa.
- I ordered the oxtail and chicken curry. The curry was dry dry. They added no sauce
The food was very disappointing. This is the second time I ordered from them and I really hoped this time would be better but it wasn’t. Won’t be wasting my money here again.

Just when I thought I tried all the nasty Caribbean restaurants in Ottawa, I was wrong! Stumbled on this place yesterday on UberEats. NEVER AGAIN! This is NOT Caribbean food, this food is run belly scraps…eat at your own risk! My “jerk chicken” didn’t pass the smell test and visual appearance; the chicken meat was hard and had this very old smell/taste to it….I tried one small sliver of chicken and knew right away that it was atleast a week+ old meat and just reheated many times, the rice & peas that came with it was hard and old too (biggest pet peeve when eating out). The plantain on my plate was extra soggy and the steamed vegetables that came with the plate didn’t look right, smell right or taste right. Moral of the story, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place and I won’t be back.

8.99 for “mac and cheese”… it’s a run down old bar with warmed up old food…don’t waste your time or money.

This is my first time trying Caribbean food & I was blown away with how amazing it tasted. The food was fresh , the chicken was tender & the ric was delicious. 100% reccomend trying this place. The taste blew my mind 😁. Meals are closer to 20$ though.

A Hidden Gem in Ottawa I recently had the pleasure of dining at **Mukut Restaurant**, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The food was absolutely outstanding. The **flavors were bold and rich**, with each dish showcasing the true essence of the cuisine. I highly recommend trying their **signature dishes** — the **butter chicken** was creamy and delicious, while the **naan** was perfectly baked and paired well with the curries. Don’t forget to try the **samosas** for a tasty appetizer. Mukut offers a fantastic mix of authentic flavors, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. Whether you're a fan of traditional Indian cuisine or looking to explore something new, this place is a must-visit in Ottawa. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing service from this business! I had ordered several meals for a few days of lunches. I asked for my roti filling and shell to be packaged separately to accommodate this. They did exactly that, and I'm so happy.
The food taste is good but mild. Personally, I enjoy very flavorful dishes that taste like home, but some may enjoy mild flavor. Lastly, the food presentation was appetizing.
Overall, I'm pleased with my order, and I'm happy to support this business!

This was the worst roti I’ve ever had. The roti was extremely dry, and the goat lacked seasoning and seemed poorly prepared. It was soo hard to chew. I had to head straight to the washroom afterward.

The restaurant is located inside a pub/bar, which didn’t provide the most inviting atmosphere.

Excellent food and service. Would have been more enjoyable without the blaring music though. Felt more like a bar than an eatery.

Ordered oxtail and rice and peas using Uber eats and the food that was delivered was very disappointing. It looked liked it was just thrown in the container. The oxtail was mostly bones. So not impressed.

Jamaican Patties

The best product, by far, that I’ve discovered so far in Ottawa—and there are a few other exceptional sellers in and around town.

Very, very good product!!! Exceptional!

This morning I visited the Nu Caribbean storefront venue located at 858 Merivale Rd. after reading great online reviews of their Jamaican patties.

Sampled one patty there, and left with three dozen to distribute amongst family members. 1 dozen mild/2 dozen spicy hot.

What made the difference today?

The customer-centric care that the Chef/Proprietor provided from the moment I walked in the restaurant.

The pastry’s flavour, texture (flakiness) and the generous amount of meat filling inside and its flavour.

My Jamaican born wife (Spanish Town, St. Catherine) suggested that these patties are better than any she’s had in Ottawa (and South Miami) to-date.

Reminded her of Tastee Ltd. patties in Jamaica—her childhood favourites.

Bravo/kudos to the Nu Caribbean team at 858 Merivale Rd. In Ottawa near to Westgate Shopping centre.

An Additional 5 Star Review

A supplemental update to previous 5 Star Review for 3 dozen Jamaican Patties.

Today, 10 July 2024, my wife and I picked up a Curry Goat, Ox-Tail take-out meal and a dozen more Jamaican Patties (Spicy).

Great service and outstanding products Chef—Kudos to you!

Side Note: We also added our own fresh Scotch Bonnet pepper once we got home—for the fun of it.
