As a youth in Toronto, I enjoyed the best fish and chips possible. They were found in Smith's, a small fish and chip shop at the end of the Kingston Road street car line. The food was an enticement for youth after the Saturday movie matinees, to spend their nickels and dimes there, not in the fare box of the bus needed to get us home. Telephoned 7:30pm on Friday (most popular day for fish-n-chip) to place a take-away order. The VM recording said they are open until 8pm and "if you get this message, call back as we are on the phone." Kept calling and kept getting the same message.
