This is truly a hidden gem in Kingston! Have had lunch and recently, an incredible family dinner. Food is exceptional! Interesting, fresh and delicious! Staff were very fun and courteous. Will always choose the Black Dog when in Kingston! I love this place!

We found Black Dog Tavern by chance while walking around downtown Kingston — and were pleasantly surprised! The interior looks like a little museum: elegant, spotless, and beautifully designed. We were seated almost immediately and even offered complimentary Prosecco — such a nice touch! The food was excellent (especially the French toast), and the service was fast, friendly, and professional. Cozy atmosphere, comfortable noise level — perfect for a relaxed brunch. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!

Great food and great atmosphere. We stopped in for lunch and had the fish and chips which was amazing. Plenty of seating, friendly service that was quick. Atmosphere is that of a bistro in Paris so expect lots of French jazz type music. Parking could be a bit of a gamble, it’s on street and you could end up parked right out front or a few blocks away.

I went out of the condo during the time condo is doing fire drill testing. I was planning to order take out in Dinner Menu at about 2pm. I was going to get Duck Cousalett, but To my surprise, I was told to wait til 4pm to get dinner take out. That is foolish. The Website itself does not clearly state I have to wait til 4pm to order dinner take out nor does it said I have to wait til 4pm to order dinner take out. I'm autistic I can't decipher high context clues. The price of each dish is missing and unclear. Wasted my time to get there. Next time be clear about it on the webpage.

Great experience having lunch by chance at The Black Dog Tavern. Quickly seated, and food came quite quickly as well. Both meals were great! Amazing flavours, good quantities, and served hot. Very reasonable pricing for quality of food. Definitely look forward to another visit down the road.

Omg I love this place! The ambience is awesome. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, as was the dessert. I am definitely coming back next time I'm in Kingston. I'd love this place near my house in Toronto!
The restaurant was recommended by a friend of mine and a group of 3 dined here on Saturday. Food was great and the atmosphere is very cozy. Three of us went for an early dinner at 4pm before the rush of homecoming. As we were seated server mentioned we had to be out by 6pm as they are very busy trying to squeeze everyone in and that is the next reservation. I would maybe just mention that it's policy, not that we are being squeezed making us feel rushed. She proceeded to take our drink orders then two of my guests went to the restroom; at which time the server returned and asked if I needed a minute with the menu, I said I would like to wait for my guests to return before ordering - seemed odd to try to take the order of one person in the party. Our server never explained any specials, or asked if we had been before, forgot to refill our drinks after we asked, and despite it being before the rush it took just short of an hour to receive our mains( two daily specials and a fish and chips). Overall great restaurant, I just think the server was having an off day unfortunately.

We came here for my birthday dinner and were super impressed with the service. Leah was our server and she was amazing. I have a ton of food allergies and she took amazing care of us. She made sure that everything was safe and even asked where my epi pens were just incase. She also communicated with us through out the dinner to make sure we knew that the kitchen staff were taking my allergies seriously. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. I would like to say a big thank you to Leah for the amazing experience she provided us with!

Phenomenal experience. Seated quickly, menus and drinks within 5 minutes of arrival. Mackenzie looked after us, she was amazing! My dining partner had the pacific halibut, massive portion which she said was hands down the best in Kingston. I ordered the 16 oz Enright Ribeye medium rare. Steak was cooked beautifully, with Bernaise butter and really nice accompaniments. We paired the fish with a French sauv-blanc, and I had a nice Pinot noir with my steak, usually I’d have a cab- sauv but I wanted a change tonight. We loved the dark chocolate mousse and a deconstructed lemon meringue in a mug, really cool desserts. We’ll return soon, truly excellent landmark downtown restaurant with stellar ambiance & spectacular service from Mackenzie, she really knows her wine pairings and made our visit fun! Wish I had taken pictures, you will have to visit and enjoy the vibe for yourself.
