Recently my daughter got married and I decided to ask Bread annd Butter, to cover all of the pastries for the event. Everyone at the celebration complemented me for the food and especially for all the pastries. The wedding cake was so beautiful decorated and delicious . The cheese cakes were the first to go, they were so fresh and tasty. One guest approached me and said "you have to try the apple crisp", then I also tried the many different squares; they were marvellous too. I want to thank Bread and Butter from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful and yummy work you did for our special event! And also for all the great foods you do for so many years now, here in Kingston.

tasty pastries, but unfortunately their staff will overcharge you with the wrong prices and then proceed to argue with you for 10 minutes at the till instead of simply refunding the difference. terrible service, what a joke.
Heartfelt gratitude out to Bread and Butter Bakery for helping me out with a special vegan cake on very short notice! Every last crumb received lots of love! I’m not sure how it’s possible to make a luxuriously rich tasting cake that is also so light, but they did it ! They’ve been our go-to for muffins, scones and bread for years. I used to make our own cakes, but I think I will go to B&BB now also! (And I’ll make sure to aim for more notice next time!)
We recently purchased a vegan chocolate cake for a family birthday celebration....It was the best chocolate cake I have ever had!

Okay this review is going to serve as a warning to all the innocent out of towners that are visiting Kingston.
APPROACH THIS PLACE WITH CAUTION OR YOU, LIKE ME, WILL BE MAKING MULTIPLE STOPS!
I first stopped my Bread & Butter to pick up some croissants for the family. We're in from Alberta for the week and I thought it would be nice to pick up some breakfast for the family. I ordered a dozen and didn't realize that the croissants were THE SIZE OF A HUMAN ADULT FIST!! And they were amazing! Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery and flakey in the middle. My gods they were good and lasted us at least three days.
Next day, we needed some buns for a party. Went on over, grabbed three bags of dinner rolls and yet again...SLAM DUNK! Also got a couple cherry danishes and was shocked to find cherries with pits! Real cherries! Yet again the pastry was fantastic! So crispy, flakey and layered beautifully!
My last day...the one before I leave for home. I stop by the restaurant with my son and have the traditional breakfast. For a third day, everything was awesome! The toast (the bloody toast!!) stood out as excellent with their homemade jam! Of course I needed a bottle of that jam and a couple cookies (which of course, rocked!)
Everything about this place and it's restaurant, Toast and Jam...is amazingly delicious! And my warning to you out of towners coming into Kingston. Be prepared, strengthen your willpower, or like me, you too shall be making multiple stops!!
10 out of 10, will be stopping by again.

I’ve been a longtime customer of Bread and Butter and have consistently loved their products, but my recent experience definitely warrants a review. I had ordered a lemon meringue pie (which I’ve had before and always delicious) for a friend’s birthday, and was so disappointed when I cut into it and there was barely any lemon filling underneath a huge mound of meringue. I notified the bakery and they promptly offered to give me a new pie or a full refund. I opted for the pie and my friend was able to enjoy it the way it was meant to be made. Thank you Eliza from Bread and Butter for providing such exceptional customer service!

Great place to grab housewarming treats or dinner party additions. I've never tried the restaurant but the baked goods are perfect.
Vegetarian options: It's a bakery, so most of their offerings have no meat. All bakery items are top notch.

I was very excited to try this bakery, but I was very disappointed. Butter tarts were dry and filling had almost a metal taste to it. Ordered some cookies for the kids, the cookies were dry as well. The muffins were ok much better than the butter tarts and cookies. Brownies were decent. The baguette didn’t have crunch to it either. I spent almost $100 there and basically everything I bought wasn’t good and way over priced. I get they have expenses there too but the product doesn’t live up to price I know lots of people love this place but it’s a no for me especially because I drove 45 minutes just to pick up some baked goods that didn’t live up to the hype. :(

The pecan tarts were amazing, also the egg salad on a croissant tasted wonderful. Price was a little high, but as a former baker, I know the cost involved with scratch baking.

Exceptional baked goods with very friendly staff. The bakery can get a little cramped bur it's clear the focus is on the baking and local community.

Great service, lovely atmosphere . Just stoped for a brownie & latte, both excellent quality.
Made an online order for a brunch box to have a nice picnic with my hubby. It was so wonderful. The salad was completely fresh and crisp with a nice light dressing. Potato salad was excellent. Buttermilk scones were baked to perfection. Two quiches were delightfully light and tasty. Came with cheesecake with berries that was melt in your mouth sweetness and we got some chocolate covered strawberries added to the order. So much yumminess. All the portions were perfect as well, nothing was too much so there was no waste. It was all packed well and easy to carry. You can never go wrong with this bakery.I was disappointed to find out the brunch box was just a Mother's Day option. But nothing to stop people from ordering at Bread and Butter Bakery, put their own brunch boxes together to have wonderful food for a sweet picnic wherever their adventures take them! Thanks to all the staff for making this amazing food and this day special! ♥
