Should’ve read the reviews before ordering. The absolute worst “adaptation” of a butter chicken dish, and somehow even the rice wasn’t all that good. Either rename the butter chicken dish or make a real butter chicken.

Darbar never fails to disappoint. Excellent service, delicious food, clean, and following all covid protocol. Happy to see lots of pickups and deliveries coming and going while we ate.

Best Indian food in Kingston. Beware, getting the spicy vindaloo will definitely test your limits.

My fav place to eat in Kingston
Delicious, good portions and a kind waiter. A rare restaurant that answers phone for takeout and delivery and the paper takeout menu is lower prices than the apps
Darbar has mastered the art of accommodating plant-based diets, making it a welcoming destination for vegetarians and vegans alike. The restaurant's approach to vegan cuisine is commendable, offering a variety of dishes that are not only delicious but also adhere to the principles of healthy, whole food eating. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, ensuring that vegan options are not an afterthought but are integral to the dining experience. The flavors are rich and authentic, showcasing the depth and diversity of Indian spices and cooking techniques. What truly sets Darbar apart is the owner's commitment to purity in accommodating vegan dishes, ensuring a sense of trust and comfort. This level of trust is what keeps me from experimenting with other Indian restaurants. The manager is kind, and lovely, making every visit feel like a warm, family gathering. He goes above and beyond to ensure that each guest's needs are met, whether it's answering questions about ingredients or making recommendations from the menu. Darbar Restaurant is a gem for vegans and non-vegans alike, offering delicious, healthy, and authentic Indian cuisine.

WORST BIRYANI EVER (Please read the entire review, Being an Indian, I have had biryani all across my country and I can bet what they served was not biryani)
I visited Darbar based on google reviews where they suggested it to serve the best chicken biryani in the town.
They just served turmeric rice with some cooked chicken which is surely not what biryani is.
I even had to pay for the raita separately (raita is included with the biryani, not some slice of tomato and cucumber, see images), stop looting in the name of authentic food.
If you are having it for the first time, please do not ever have biryani from this place else you will spoil your taste to ever go for real biryanjs again.
And Darbar restaurant you really need to improve the quality, things dont work out this way for long. You can fool others but surely not people for whom these foods their cuisine!
TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!
If you don’t believe this, read all the reviews by Indians for the Indian cuisine they serve!

We ordered butter chicken and shrimp korma. The curries were exactly the same sweet coconut curry and not like any butter chicken or korma I've ever had (not in a good way). The appetizer platter was tasty but tiny for the price. The Darbar special rice had no salt. Definitely not ordering from here again.

I was the only person there, but Ashok was super nice. Had a short conversation and then he gave me some truly fire samosas. They weren’t huge, but they were excellent. Perfectly crunchy deep fried outside and mild, delicious filling. Would for sure go again for a proper meal.
