6 of us went for breakfast earlier this week. Hadn't booked but very lucky to get a table. Service was great from start to finish. Great selection for all of us on the menu. All food was freshly cooked once we ordered. Portions were large, but the food was so good we all managed to finish our meals 😋 would love to go back but we were only passing through. But if I lived local I would definitely go back. Keep up the good work and great service to all involved .

Lay Low is my favourite spot for brunch! I absolutely love their eggs benedict! It’s always perfectly made and so delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, and it’s just a great place to relax and enjoy a good meal.

OK, I just receive the response on my feedback. I am not sure how to write a new message, so I will leave the previous message here, followed by the response. I wish, the response would not come or the owner would take the responsibility. However, they just have explanation for what happened.

This is my review on the day it happened - I have never experienced this in Canada ever, maybe back in my country during communism. Don't bother go there if u alone. Their policy is not to seat people without company. Honestly, shame on you.

This is the owner response -

Hi Martina! We most definitely welcome guests who are dining alone and most of our regulars are solo diners. Because our brunch weekends get very busy with a long wait list we are unable to accommodate orders from our take away counter to sit in. We hope you understand and visit us again for a proper dine-in brunch experience next time!

This absolutely discredits my experience and diminishes my feelings - I can go to the details that I experienced and other guests could hear - I came to the restaurant with many free tables, I was asked if I have reservation, I said no, I was asked for how many people and I said for one, the girl said let me see, she went to the bar to talk to the person, not sure what was the conversation, but they said no, I was told sorry we have no room I can take your phone number and call you when we free. I was puzzled by this answer and said, no thank you, I will wait here. I moved to the side and people behind me said no worries we will go we don't have a reservation, as they heard my conversation. However the girl asked for how many people, they said for three and she seated them. Six other people in groups came in and were seated, while they mentioned they don't have reservation. The group of three people who were seated after me actually came back to me and offered me a space at their TABLEEEEE as they said, this was awkward.

This was one of my first rating ever in my life, as I have never ever felt like that before. Writing my review sort of helped me, however your response is poor. As a teacher, one of the most important lesson I try to instill in my students is to spread their kindness, but as we all know we are not perfect, when we make mistakes, we need to take the responsibility for our actions.

I am writing this not for me, you don't have to care about me and my feeling. I am never coming back, but please, try better for the other singles who enter your place. And when you make mistake as a company, remember that one word (SORRY), instead of 5 sentences of explanation and excuses goes very far.

If you don't want singles during your peak hours in your restaurant, post it, make a poster and let people know, rather than to treat them as less than. Your response keep the shame on you.

It was hard to decide what to order, the menu had too many delicious items to choose from. The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly.

I can't say enough about this place. Not only is it locally owned, it is also greats . The attention to detail in all the plants and ever changing seasonal menu add the place ! Try the carrot cake latte ! Only suggestion would be to add a couple more vegan options as there's only two right now on the breakfast side !

My friend and I went to try the new fall drinks that were just released today. We thought it would be a cute and fun outing. We ordered the pecan date latte and the carrot cake latte, but unfortunately, the drinks were not what we expected. They had a strange, powdery texture and just didn’t taste good. When we asked, we were told the pecan syrup contained actual pecans, which supposedly caused the texture — though that doesn’t explain why the carrot cake latte was also powdery. We decided to go back and kindly asked if we could switch our drinks for something else — this time choosing the vanilla latte and the tiramisu latte, which were actually lower in price. When we approached the register (with no one in line and the café mostly empty), we were ignored for several minutes, despite being clearly visible to the staff. When I finally spoke to a worker and explained the situation, she took the drinks back and told the barista on duty (this was around 3:30 PM — the barista in the black outfit). The barista rolled her eyes, said “Oh my god,” and handled the situation with clear attitude and disrespect. I understand that remaking drinks can be frustrating, but that doesn’t excuse being rude. To top it off, she refused to make the tiramisu latte and said she would only be remaking two vanilla lattes. When she handed them over, she told us that next time, we’d have to pay if we didn’t like the drinks with extreme attitude. The entire interaction could have been handled much more respectfully. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and because of this, I won’t be returning and will be going to Crave from now on.

I fail to understand how this place has less than 4.5 stars. It is very rare for me to try several dishes and beverages, and find them all better than many outstanding spots in Toronto.

Great place 👌

Why did the waffle fries in this vegan dish taste like bacon? The food was absolutely awful, and the service wasn’t any better.

Staff were really nice and high energy. Food was great, especially the waffle fries!

Theres no reservations, so you'd have to join the waitlist during busy weekends. They will give your table away if you dont come back in time!

I felt like I was back in Europe after stepping inside the doors of Lay Low Cafe. This restaurant was recommended to us and I’m very happy we made the trip downtown to check it out. The service was exceptional and the food was absolute perfection. We were very impressed and will be back again very soon to try the other menu options as all of the selections sounded incredible. When you are downtown Kingston and hungry slide in to Lay Low Cafe.

Lay Low offers unique and delicious menu items which update frequently enough that I'm pleasantly surprised when the menu changes. It's got a beautiful interior & a fresh vibes coffee/drinks bar. The realistic drawback to this place is during busy brunch times, the volume inside becomes so loud it's hard to speak or hear whoever you're with. Consider a different place if you're hard of hearing or coming at a less busy time.
