Our group of 10 or so has been starting our weekend at Sens Café for several years (almost since the day they opened in Kingston). Isabelle and Dara are gracious hosts who unfailingly hold a table for us, and serve us with a smile.
We meet at Sens because first and foremost, Sens cares about the atmosphere in their Café, and they care about the quality of the coffee they serve. The roast is medium, and the baristas are highly trained experts (you can tell by the quality of the latte art) who pull consistently delicious espresso drinks. You can also tell by the helpful little chart at the cash that they know their stuff, and that you will receive a properly pulled drink.
The atmosphere of course depends on the people. We love it at Sens because so many of the customers are outward looking and friendly. We are sometimes boisterous (but not rude), and we often chat with others, some of whom have become close friends as well. Laptops are allowed, but at least on a Saturday people are there to socialize. It is one of the few places around where interaction and lingering is encouraged and welcomed.

THE BEST PLACE TO GET COFFEE IN KINGSTON! Hands down the best. The staff is super welcoming & sweet. They are actual baristas that are insanely knowledgeable when it comes to coffee, the beans, the bitterness, the latte art, etc. I go here weekly to get some studying/work done. The atmosphere is amazing, people are respectful & there is music but not overwhelmingly loud. I love this place so much. Can't recommend it more.

From the early days when SENS CAFÉ had first opened their doors, Pierre and Isabelle have maintained a high degree of respect for the community, their staff, and their standards for good coffee. The customers that treat this café as their second home often exhibit these values and share in the community atmosphere that has been built here.
I recommend SENS for anyone who loves coffee. I also recommend getting to know all of the wonderful staff and staying for a while.

This was my favourite cafe while I lived in Kingston. The baked goods mostly come from a bakery offsite, and are delicious! The donuts are phenomenal. Their coffee is the best coffee in Kingston, in my opinion. I loved going in for my morning coffee and seeing the owners serving coffee everyday. It’s a true small business. And I love the building and its character, makes you feel like you are in Europe.
