Sunflower Chinese Restaurant

Sunflower Chinese Restaurant has very authentic and tasty Chinese food. We arrived in Kingston after 9 pm and were grateful to find this place open. The chef, who was also the cashier, waiter, and cook, kindly allowed us to dine in even though most people ordered takeout. There was a bit of a wait, but the food was definitely worth it.

The price and portions ratio is good. It was hard to place an order because we couldn't connect the call, had to try several times. Food was ready on time. Overall, the food could use a little more seasoning, fried items tasted like burnt oil and sauces were thick. I did enjoy it but I had to add soy sauce and spicy sauce to give it a little more flavor. I'm still looking for a go-to place when I'm craving Asian food.

Delicious, steaming and generous portions of well made and complete dishes in this hidden gem of Kingston. While it may appear run down, behind the plastic containers and only take out service is a gentle and busy man who takes care into every dish made for my group of 5. Everybody left content after a ice chilled drink accompanying us on these hot summer days. Only negative was the price for bottled water.

Generously large portions, delicious food. Highly recommend combination C (chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls, egg roll ) and combo D (chop suey and sweet and sour chicken balls, egg roll). Very reasonable prices, friendly service and wait times for both pick up and delivery are very fair.

They never open at the time advertised. Once they do open they are inexpensive though

My friends and I wanted to order Chinese takeout and we were SO happy with our order from here. We ordered the family combo for 5, and the portions were huge! We had so much leftovers. The food was fresh, the honey garlic ribs were well marinated, and the chow mein was our favourite. The owner was very kind, and made our food in a decent time working by himself. I will be ordering again!

This is exactly what you expect from a place like this. The owner doesnt speak much english but cooks amazing food. Gets your order ready in time so great service. You cant dine in and you wouldnt want to dine in.

Bad service, waited for 40mis just to order foods and the owner's attitude was very rude. He seemed annoyed that we are here. I don't get it why he's running restaurant if he's treating customer like this.

I’m so glad they are still open! I went to Queens and graduated in 2019. They used to be the only Chinese restaurant open when I got off work. Their sweet and sour pork canto style (I think they have 2 different sweet and sour pork dishes. One Americanized one and one canto style). It is the best I’ve ever had, and I still crave it to this day. Hope I can go back someday to have it again ?

The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the last 3 times we've placed pick up orders we've waited well over 30 minutes EXTRA. I mean, it's worth the wait... delicious, plentiful, fresh, and fantastic... but that 30 mins feels like forever. Under promise and over deliver, rather than over promising and under delivering.

This was by far the worst food order I've ever seen. I would never recommend this place !!!!!!
