I ordered a large hot and sour soup and received a literal bucket of the most delicious hot and sour soup ever. Thank you VIP Chinese Restaurant. ❤️

This place was gross. We ordered from here so many times in my childhood, it was everyone’s favourite place to get Chinese. We moved from Kingston and haven’t found a place we’ve liked since. We had the chance to have VIP again for our Christmas Eve meal. We spent nearly $200 on everyone’s favs. NOTHING was good. Literally, the gravy for the chicken soo guy tasted rotten. The honey garlic spare ribs were flavourless and tough. The chicken fried rice was okay flavour wise but a little dry. Chicken balls and the chicken for the soo guy, both overcooked and hard. The sweet and sour pork was mushy and didn’t taste right. All of the sauces were water thin, not thick and sticky like you’d expect from Chinese food. That’s all I tasted, I couldn’t bring myself to eat anything else, but nobody had anything nice to say about any of the dishes, with the exception of the noodle dish, which I was told was not good, but at least it was edible unlike the rest. So much wasted food and money. Will not be going here again.

Worst Chinese meal we've ever eaten. Our Christmas eve dinner was just ruined with the disgusting food we just ordered from here. The gravy tasted burned and smoky, and is full of lumps of flour. The sweet and sour sauce is watery and tastes gross. One container was vinegary, the other was sweet. The chicken balls were dry, the egg rolls had hardly any filling. The rice was dry and seemed old. We order lemon chicken but didn't get it, but got other noodle dishes we didn't order. Nothing we got was edible, and on top of it all our order was placed at 2 for pickup at 6 but not even ready when we arrived. We will never order here again.

This place is absolutely disgusting.

We ordered our Christmas Eve dinner through Uber Eats and chose the family dinner special for five. Right off the bat, the order was missing the spring rolls entirely. While we understand delivery food may not arrive piping hot, everything was ice cold, and the chicken balls were rock hard…to the point where I’d be shocked if they were even made the same day.

The hot and sour soup, which is usually my favourite and which we paid $12 extra for, was completely inedible. It literally tasted like dirty dishwater. I’ve never had hot and sour soup taste that bad in my life.

The General Tao’s chicken (which we also paid extra for) was not General Tao’s at all. It didn’t resemble it in any way, no traditional red sauce, no spice, no flavour. Instead, it was a strange brown colour and tasted nothing like general tao’s.

Uber compensated us $2 for the missing spring rolls, which felt insulting given the state of the entire order. Plus the 5 spring rolls would have for sure cost more than $2.

Not a single person in our household could eat the food. Absolutely no one touched it. What was supposed to be a special Christmas Eve dinner turned into a huge disappointment. We will never order from here again

idk whats going on with the food here but ordered the beef and beans got 99% bean sprouts and literally 3 small shavings of beef less than one spoonful of beef for the whole dish, the fried rice was so over cooked the grains were splitting in half. clearly a sign of the food being kept in the refrigerator for multiple days at a time. spring rolls were 99% bean sprouts as well. almost thought they were messing with us at first but they're just that cheap

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at VIP Chinese Restaurant recently, and I can’t stop raving about how spectacular everything was — from the food to the ambiance — but especially the service, thanks to Harry.

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. Harry greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm, which immediately set the tone. Throughout the evening, he was attentive without being intrusive — always ready with a recommendation, refilling drinks promptly, and checking in to make sure each dish was just how we wanted it.

Speaking of the food — it was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care and quality ingredients. I could tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do, and Harry’s attention to every detail enhanced the whole experience.

But what really made the night unforgettable was Harry’s professionalism, kindness, and passion. He made us feel like valued guests, not just customers. He went above and beyond, matching pace to our conversation, anticipating needs before we even asked, and genuinely caring that we had a great time.

In short: everything was excellent, and Harry played a major role in that. If you see him at the restaurant, make sure to give him a huge tip. You're looking for a restaurant that pairs excellent food with outstanding, personalized service, VIP Chinese Restaurant is a must-visit. And if Harry is working — you’ll be in especially good hands.

It was disgusting. Worst Chinese food.

Most of the bad reviews seem to be from white people… go eat some fast food, might suit your taste better.

This place was delicious. The Shanghai noodles are superb, the portion sizes are massive. This place really is amazing. Owners are really friendly.

This place is disgusting. Just placed an order for 8 choices and got totally ripped off. The sweet and sour sauce was inedible it was water. The beef chop suey had 3 slices of beef in the whole container. The amount of rice we received was for a single person and the chicken soo guy had enough gravy for 1/4 of the chicken.

Very disappointing and will NEVER GO BACK.

**I don't usually leave reviews, but this food was disgusting. First, let me say that I use to order form here back in 2013 and enjoyed it. Today I ordered and the chicken balls were stale and hard (as if cooked earlier this morning), the lemon chicken was slimy and mushy when it was suppose to be deep fried and crispy with a sauce. The shrimp in the fried rice tasted awful and was uneatable. I had to throw out all the food due to not being sure if it was even safe to eat. Had I ordered directly from the restaurant, I would have returned the food back and requested a full refund. I had to request a refund via SKIP, which only refunded 50% of the order (after being hung up on chat 4 times by agents). I will not be ordering from VIP ever again and I will never use SKIP again.

Ate several times. The tasty set main dish included vegetables and egg, which a normal adult must get full after the meal. Decent experiences.

Everyone's a VIP at this place. 👍

I had the best takeout from VIP! Wow! They made me General Taos Gluten Free and it was amazing! & The chicken fried rice was so fresh! We ate too fast to take a photo!
