Borealis Grille & Bar (Kitchener)

Amazing! Personable, outgoing, happy staff. Made some changes to a dish for religious reasons without even blinking an eye, made everyone feel welcomed and not judged.

We started with a couple cocktails. A Rob Roy for me and a Caesar for my wife. Rob Roy was good and the Caesar tasted good as well but was garnished with a lime instead of the traditional celery. Asked our waiter and he said the bar was out of it, but he went to the kitchen to get some. My wife had the Prime Rib and it was too much fat and grizzle, it was uneatable. Prime Rib does have a lot of fat as that is where it gets its flavor, but this was just uneatable. They should not have served it. I had Fish and chips, and it was ok, not outstanding. Told our waiter about the prime rib and they took it off our bill and gave us a discount ticket. They need to pay more attention to the details.

Wonderful setting - we were invited up to the schoolhouse area - so interesting, great food (fish tacos are delicious), friendly service, accommodating to our late arrival, lovely amience. Would definitely return.

As always - we have a great experience when we come to borealis. My husband and I had our first date there 8 years ago and it's been a special place for us since. We came to celebrate his birthday and our server Samantha was amazing. Very attentive and accommodating. We always recommend your restaurant to friends and family and will always keep coming back.

Our first time trying this restaurant and it did not disappoint! Food was wonderful and service was outstanding. Luigi was amazing! Will be returning!

Awesome evening as date night menu in place. Enjoyed the trout and steak frites. Koodos to our server Luigi who made the night fun and memorable.

Celebrated our 20th. We come every year for our anniversary. Husband is vegetarian. Lots of good choices for him on menu.

We have been coming to Boreilis for years. We come from London and my dad comes from Aurora. We are very familiar with the restaurant and the menu and staff. This was our worst experience. The waiter was flippant and sarcastic. He came with waters and I asked if I could please have a water with no ice. He said - yes but you are going to wait awhile. We arrived at 1230 and by the time he came to take order it was 1250. We didn't get our meal until 140. So slow. Even if the waiter was the only one (which I don't know) it would have been nice to be told this so we can understand why things were taking so long. When we asked for ketchup he walked away and said nothing. He did come back but what kind of service is that? The food was ok. Turkey burger - was very dry. I eat Hayters Turkey burgers at home - I don't cook them to dry. My husbands burger was dry and over cooked. We were not asked what our preference was so we didn't realize you would overcook. When I asked for the bill - yup was response. The waiter had a dirty shirt on and very unfriendly. We will come back one more time and see how things are but if the same we won't return and I will share my feedback with our friends and family in KW area

I did a little research on the building Borealis Grille and bar is within.
I found out that it is a restored 19th-century schoolhouse, which was originally “the Pine Grove schoolhouse” you will find lots of old pictures of the children that attended there so many years ago.
It was built in 1889 and is the second-oldest schoolhouse in the region. What a cool piece of history for everyone to enjoy.
I would like to give a big warm shout out to one of the very best Waiters I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Luigi!
He is fantastic and I absolutely love when he sings traditional Italian songs. A dinner and a show. He really should be famous!
I always request to have him be my waiter but of course he is often busy and highly in demand and sought after.
he always takes a moment to come and bring his good energy and charms to brighten my day and make me feel special. Thank you Luigi! I hope I will have the honour next time.
The atmosphere is nice and a perfect spot to have a Christmas party. It is decorated nicely with florals and a Christmas tree. There is a private room in the lowest level I have not seen myself but have noticed food being delivered down there for parties.
The food is sourced local so that is always a good thing.
My dining companion ordered the Manitoulin Island seared trout and he really enjoyed. I tried some of his quinoa and it was very tasty.
We shared a beef vegetable soup and I had the blackened chicken taco salad.
Will definitely be returning and hopefully get Luigi because he is a real hoot!

Had a great luncheon at Borealis Grille & Bar in Kitchener. Love the original features retained in the building and decor. The service, as previously, was terrific....quick and friendly from entry to leaving and our waiter was amazing....polite, funny and helpful. Easy to find and great parking, this is a good place for anyone going thru or in Kitchener. Would definitely go back.

We were invited to our neighbors 70 and 80th birthday celebfations with family and friends
From the moment we entered we were greeted by Luigy and staff and directed to the group of guest. The staff are very friendly and Eagar to help with whatever we requested. For the large amount of people present the service was fast and the food was delicious and very generous amount. Desserts were excellent. I have recommended this restaurant to several of our local group. We will definitely be returning for any of our special occasions. Hope this helps and bon appetite. The menu is always interesting and has something for everyone. Every dish is prepared perfectly and presented with care. The staff is professional and friendly and they demonstrate a sense of pride in working at Borealis. It's our favorite restaurant to go to every time we come to the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Keep up the great quality and creativity!

As always from the time you entered the door till you depart the service is excellent, servers interacting with diners, the food is awesome.

Very B corp counts for a lot. The food is great and we keep coming back! The staff is friendly and remember us for a personable experience.

We had a great dining experience here! The portions were generous and the food was exceptionally tasty. The only area that could use a bit of fine-tuning is the timing of the service — it took a while to place our initial order and again when it came time to receive the bill. Aside from that, everything was solid. We’ll definitely be back!
