I loved the vegan food and they were delicious, but I waited 30 minutes just for getting vegan cookies. Service is not quick. I really want to support vegan stores as a vegan person and be positive but floors were not clean inside the store, the person who was serving looked overwhelmed from working, a little smile would make difference.

Personally not a fan of vegan food
But if you’re vegan you would like it (according to my friend)

Good working space with comfy couches and chairs ;)

Updating my review seven years later because I still love Pyrus and I still visit almost every time I'm in KW <3

I'm hooked on the breakfast griller. Any time of day. If you happen to visit while they have the Berliner going in the fall... get that. Just trust me. Soups and kaleslaw are great for sides. They make a mean sandwich.

Staff are wonderful. There is such a strong feeling of community and care between them and in the community in general. The feeling I get here is a reminder of what I love about this city. Pyrus forever!

We’ve been looking for a great coffee cafe for sometime in Kitchener and I think we’ve found it. Thanks to a recommendation from Austin Mansfield, personal trainer, at GoodLife Fitness Kitchener Williamsburg, who recommended this fantastic spot. We’ll be returning again for another mocha.

The café itself is very nice, well-established, and the food and drinks we had tasted great. However, our experience was unfortunately mixed due to a couple of interactions with a staff member that left us feeling uncomfortable.

First, when ordering a hot chocolate, I asked for regular cow’s milk, but lactose-free. The staff member responded by listing plant-based milks (oat, almond, coconut, soy, etc.) and said they were all lactose-free. I clarified that I was specifically looking for lactose-free dairy milk. She then repeated, quite firmly, that everything she was listing was lactose-free and started naming the same plant-based options again. When I reiterated that I meant cow’s milk, she repeated the list once more, this time with noticeable impatience. I understand this was likely a cultural or wording difference, and I fully recognize that plant-based milks are lactose-free, but the exchange felt unnecessarily tense rather than clarifying.

The second situation was more uncomfortable. I ordered a pizza roll, which was brought to the table cold. After taking one bite, we politely asked if it could be warmed up. The staff member refused, explaining that it couldn’t be reheated because it had already been bitten, which I completely understand from a food safety standpoint. However, the refusal was delivered with a visible look of disgust, which made us feel judged rather than simply informed of a policy.

We respect the decisions made in both cases, but the tone and body language made the experience feel unwelcoming. We’re still here enjoying our coffee, but with mixed feelings about the overall experience.

They serve coffee, sandwiches, soup, and other light fair. They have lots of vegetarian options. The cappuccino is very good.

they’re too slow in processing food and preparing online orders. It takes them forever to prepare a sandwiche

I’m not even vegetarian, but the food here is so good that I honestly forget about all the meat dishes I usually love. I crave their sandwiches all the time. The menu is full of unique combinations and flavors that come together so well. Their coffee drinks are also some of the best I’ve ever had in KW. The quality is always consistent too; I order through Uber Eats often and have never had a single issue.

I come here often and it's my favorite cafe. I love how all the menu options are available to me and just 2 or 3 like other places. I love the compostable packaging. And right now they have pumpkin spice kids cookie and it's very delicious, also nice and light which surprised me. Every time I come the coffee is still well brewed, I haven't had a burnt coffee from here. All their roasts are delicious but I like the light roast if I'm getting a flavor syrup, helps the taste come through well. And their lunch menu is amazing, my favorite is the A.L.T. I highly recommend this place to everyone

Very rude staff who are more concerned with texting on their phones than serving customers. I am consistently having to wait, even when there is no one in the cafe, for the person at the counter to finish playing on their phones. They usually don't acknowledge me and are completely ok with leaving their customers hanging. And then, service is very slow. I have been coming here for years since they were in the Charles St location and they are consistently able to find the rudest, most apathetic employees who can't serve you without making it seem like they are inconvenienced by your existence. I will not be coming here anymore, if you don't want to work then I don't want to support your business
