City Cafe Bakery is one of my favorite spots in Kitchener. Their bagels are awesome, fresh, chewy, and just perfect. The coffee is great too, making it a perfect combo for breakfast or a snack. I love grabbing a bagel and coffee to go and then taking a walk on the nearby trail. It’s such a nice way to start the day. The prices are really affordable, which is a big plus. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are always friendly.

We were dropping by a family members house and wanted to get some pastries and found this place. It's a nice small family run place, fresh pastries, bagels and donuts are made here. We picked up some pastries and for $2.50 each I found it very reasonable for the size of the pastries available. We picked up up a chocolate scone, blueberry scone, butter pecan tarts, butter tarts, chocolate brownies and date squares. Everything was so tasty and fresh, we will go back again when we are in this area.

I was a regular customer for many years at the Ottawa St location with the Ham Melt with chips being my go to item. When I change workplaces, I wasn’t able to come by so often. Since Covid I have stopped in a few times for my old standby but it’s changed and not for the better. There is way too much meat on them now… (I know, I am complaining about getting more….). But honestly it’s too much, today’s melt was so meaty it was cold in the centre. The chip brand has changed too, I like the old ones better. All the other things seem to be the same and taste great, the service was exceptional.

Walked out immediately upon finding out these dinosaurs still only accept cash. While I appreciate the importance of using cash, not offering debit or credit payment options in 2024 is ridiculous. The dismissive and rude attitude in which I was informed of their antiquated policies further solidifies my intent to never return. Can’t wait to see a Tim Horton’s on the property where they once stood in the near future.

I’d rate this place higher if I could. Fantastic coffee, the BEST bagel I’ve ever had, and amazing service. I’m staying in Kitchener for a week but I’ll be coming here every morning!
