WOW! When I first tried Eby Street Bodega, I was blown away. I had gotten the Italian focaccia sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with how fluffy & fresh the focaccia was and the flavour profile of the entire sandwich was magical and so unique. The service in store is extremely quick and there is so much to look at if you incur a wait. This really is the place to go if you're ever downtown Kitchener - honestly it's even worth travelling for. My only qualm is I wish they would offer delivery, I would order all the time... I would also be poor from how much I'd be spending on their sandwiches and baked goods lol!

I’m a huge foodie. Worked all over in kitchens. The Italian sandwich by far blows anything out of the water. Vincenzo’s is up there as well, but definitely not 1st.
This was wild and massive sandwich with fresh house bread etc. the hype I heard about was/is real. Holy fk.

Unfortunately, can’t take pictures because I was so hungry and it looks so darn good that I just couldn’t wait any longer but to chow down immediately.
I came across this hidden gem when I was going to the market across the road and I was looking around the neighbourhood.
I love the cookies and I love the sandwich that I had today . It was the Italian. So delicious.
Just even as you enter, you feel like you’re transported to a village in Italy .
I highly recommend you try this place if you’re craving a sandwich that is high-quality ingredients and delicious bread that is freshly made in store every day.
Can’t wait for next time …

Parking: You can park at the market across the street

Amazing sandwiches and cheese selection.

Highly recommend getting The Heartbreak Kid when it’s available! The ingredients were fresh and delicious. We actually couldn’t get over how good the buns for the hoagies were. We also tried a few of the cookies and I will be thinking about the pistachio white chocolate chip cookie for a looong time. Staff were super friendly and despite it being a Saturday morning we didn’t have to wait long at all. We can’t wait to go back!

Wow! Top notch. Joe is amazing the chef knows what's up. 5 sandwiches down, in 2 days. Joe wasn't wrong. We will be back. And here I am. 2-4 days 2 more to go.. everything about Eby Street Bodega is amazing. Food is divine. Take-out or dine in. It's a must go. The wait is 100 percent worth it.

Very indulgent and delicious sandwiches, plus the rotating menu means that you can try something new every time you visit. The hoagies are on the pricier side, but are fairly big and come loaded with various yummy toppings. However, I do find that service is on the slower side and they don't always open right on time according to the posted time (e.g. 10min late)... which can be a tad frustrating. Although on Saturdays, I guess the long wait could be made up by the fact they are right across the market -- providing a nice opportunity to browse local produce while waiting for your order.

This place is a bit of a joke - they were sold out of everything, so we ordered something that required no prep. Even though the item required no assembly, the server told me it would take at least five minutes to “find a knife” (and was rude about it). Not sure where she had to go to find said knife, but given the size of the shop it couldn’t have been that far? It made me wonder if maybe her colleagues don’t trust her with knives for some reason?

In the end, it took them ten minutes to literally slice a piece focaccia bread.

I can’t validate this, but the people at the table next to us said they waited for 40 minutes for a sandwich. But if you do the math, four slices of bread at ten minutes each, it kind of makes sense.

Food was delicious, but I can’t help but wonder, are sandwiches slow food now?

This place is a gem!!! Sandwiches are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The Bari-style focaccia is mount watering — crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Get the basque cheese cake if it's available and definitely have to grab a selection of the cookies that are available. They also have high quality provisions like tinned fish, castelvetrano olives, labneh and well curated cheese.
