Okay price for breakfast but the food was entirely cold and not very enjoyable. service is very poor too. The girl working there avoids eye contact and when I got up to ask she with a rude tone made me sit down and gave a lecture too. I have come here many times and have been very happy before.

Decent breakfast, good service but the coffee is TERRIBLE and at $4 it should be drinkable

I went to Halibut House with a ladies’ group for lunch.
I chose the Hake, b/c I had never tried it…with chips and coleslaw.
It was so delicious! Light, fluffy, nicely battered and fried up, mild in taste…a pleasure to eat.
The food came out fast from the kitchen…I think there were 14 of us to serve, so, well done on that!
Our server was awesome…organized, smart,
Got the orders right, and did this fast.
Fast service. Efficient at any special requests…extra lemon, etc.
We were offered the new mini donuts to try…new on te menu…after our meal.
Awesome, warm little round donuts with sweet sauce on them… a perfect ending!
Thank you!
The interior of the restaurant was quite plain, but clean and bright.

Honest Reviewer (Honestly)

Been a while. How is a single takeout of fish and chips $24?

Food was good. Price ridiculous.

Restaurant was clean and staff friendly, but the price....

At least include coleslaw with a fish and chips combo. $2 for a small gravy is..

This local gem delivers on both quality and affordability, making it a go-to spot for seafood lovers. Their signature halibut is flaky, tender, and fried to perfection, served with a generous portion of perfectly seasoned fries. The cozy, casual atmosphere and friendly service round out the experience, making every visit feel like a treat. This was our first time eating here and our last time. We ordered 3 lunch specials and I ordered 1 poutine for lunch. We dined in, everyone got their lunch specials before me. The waitress said it would be about 3 minutes, No it wasn't. Everyone was halfway done their lunch and 16 minutes later, I got my poutine.
The poutine tasted like dog food, too salty, the gravy was gross slop on a plate, the fries tasted like cardboard and the curds were rubbery like they came out of a can. The worst lunch I ever had, I got home and threw up. The other people with me, said, their fish tasted stale and greasy. Fries were hard like cardboard, and the tartar sauce was rancid. Only the cheesecake tasted good, that's because they didn't make it, Thank Goodness! I do not recommend this place to dine at, slow, incompetent and fire that cook! Date: Sun, July, 13th at 2:00 pm.

Fish is the best thing. But that’s it. Fries were nothing I’d go back for. The best fish and chip joint will go on ……

I recently visited Halibut House Fish and Chips with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations.

Upon arrival, I was greeted politely, and the staff maintained a respectful and courteous tone throughout my visit, which I appreciated. However, the overall service was significantly lacking. It took approximately 30 minutes just to have my order taken, despite the restaurant not being overly busy at the time. This long wait set a frustrating tone for the rest of the visit.

When the food finally arrived, my order was incorrect, which added to the disappointment. Although the staff were polite, there was little effort to correct the mistake in a timely manner. It felt as though the communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff was disorganized, which impacted the quality of service.

While I understand that mistakes can happen, I do believe that a more attentive approach and improved efficiency could have made this experience much better. I’m hopeful that the management team or corporate office will take this feedback seriously and offer some form of resolution, as I do see potential in the restaurant if the service aspect is addressed.

I’m sharing this feedback in the spirit of helping improve the customer experience for future diners.

I enjoyed the fish and chips. Got the halibut lunch meal. Really filling and good deal for 11.95 cad. The place was clean and the staff were polite and the food was piping hot and fresh.

Keep up the good work❤️
