If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was the Kitchen Manager for many years and then the ownership changed - their incompetence is staggering. They don't use a smoker at either location for their once great bbq items which shows in their current product. If you're looking for a job DONT APPLY. When I left (with 4 weeks notice) they withheld my tips ($400+) and I only received half my pay. It took me a while to write this but if I can help put a nail in the coffin, so be it. For the $1200 they owed me - well worth the price of never having to deal with Mani or Jagathi again. I wrote them via email but they blocked me so a google review it is.
Nice place. The food is delicious. Not Frozen. Hidden 💎💎💎 great quality in food
Awesome experience at the Crazy Canuck! They were able to host our volleyball team for our team lunch on short notice and was able to handle our order and get us on our way for our tournament. Thanks to awesome staff for making it happen! -6UP Gravity Volleyball
Amazing food! I recommend the Crazy Canuck poutine. The employees are friendly. The food takes a while, but they have board games you can play while waiting for the food.
food was delicious, generous portions, i recommend the mad greek :D 👍
fries were super crispy, burger had a lot of meat and cheese, the waitress was super friendly and accommodating, would come again!!!!
atmosphere is lovely, very clean
Great food, great prices
What a dump. Place is filthy. Washrooms were absolutely disgustingly dirty and was the restaurant floor and tables. Food was good. Not excellent but good. We were the only ones in there just after they opened for the day. The floor had FOOD FROM THE DAY BEFORE still on the floor. A bunch of their table had old folded up napkins holding the table legs in place do they don't wobble. So obviously they have zero interest in maintaining the place. Or they dont care. Overall the place looked and felt very dirty and unkept The tables are made from reclaimed wood so the cracks were filled with caulking. They weren't clean. Crumbs in the cracks. Nasty. They also had rap music playing with a couple of songs with the continued use of the N word in it. Not really ideal for families with young kids going to eat Will never go back.
Advice for new visitors: Read reviews over the overall star rating.
The Crazy Canuck (Kitchener) filled us to the brim with tasty dinner! The portions were very sizeable, and the poutine gravy was delicious! The double patty burgers were tasty and we left stuffed.
When seeing the Crazy Canuck through Google Maps we attempted to book a reservation online, and the website required us to fill in a form with our chosen location (Waterloo vs Kitchener), preferred date and number of guests (no time selection area?) and wait for confirmation email (which never came). We had “booked” the Waterloo location, and when we called to confirm they seemed to be unaware of our reservation, and also concerned as our 730pm request would not have been possible since they close at 8pm. They recommended we visit the Kitchener location which closes later. All to say - if you are looking to book a reservation, call, don’t book online.
This was our first time at a Crazy Canuck location, and this specific location was surprising when we arrived. From what we could tell there was no parking lot, we found free 2hr street parking. To get to the restaurant you enter through the bottom level of a building and walk down a bit of a winding hallway, past a movie theatre. When you enter the restaurant the spot is decorated in fun Canadian fashion, many tables, a separate party dining room, and an area for comedy. The restaurant is divided from the hallway by glass walls, some area of which is blocked by a black curtain (no windows to the outdoors). There are big speakers on stands spread across the space (most likely used for comedy nights), and when we were there music seemed to be streaming through Bluetooth to these speakers from a personal device. Something to note the chairs are small and made of a bit of a flimsy plastic.
From what we could tell there was one server and one chef on site, and the server was friendly. Although it was a Friday night the space was very empty, and we were one of the only customers over our 2 hour visit, with a few others coming in for take out. This said, from our experience a reservation definitely wasn’t needed. When we finished our meal we waited to pay the bill at our table, but later realized we needed to go up to the til to pay.
I would recommend this location of the Crazy Canuck as a great spot for post-drinks late night food or takeout. Their food is filling and well-priced ($15+ tax for a double patty burger, original poutine, and pop!). That said, the atmosphere could definitely be improved (better seating, more reliable Bluetooth music connection, and honestly a move to a different location may serve them well). If you are looking for a well-rounded dining experience this may not be the place. As the food was great we look forward to trying the other location.
Excellent service and good! 4 stars on the atmosphere but only because we came between lunch and dinner and were the only ones in the restaurant
do not trust the 4.5 stars.
i wanted to eat some good classic poutine for my vacation but,
The whole food was completly bland and not seasoned at all.
The top was hot and the food at the bottom was completely cold and soggy.
And i feel sick now after eating it.
would give it 0 Stars if i could.
avoid at all cost!

Very comfy atmosphere, not too busy on a Thursday afternoon.
Food was excellent and portions were very generous with lots of meat. Had to take the rest home to finish! It was like a meal for two for everything.
Good food
Stopped in for a pre-concert meal. Have had catering from the Canuck a few times so was really looking forward to the experience. Tuesday in February didn't lend to the experience as the place was nearly empty, though that did give ample opportunity to explore the fun wall hangings and table toppers. Cool decor but they really could have used some music playing, the place was TOO quiet. Restroom needed a serious clean. Service was prompt, if indifferent. Drinks served in cans with no offer of glassware, which was surprising. Liked the potential of their Railway City tall can collection. We ordered the Donair pizza and the brisket pizza. Food was promised in 15-20 minutes, actual wait time was 35. The brisket pizza could have benefitted from more brisket - kinda the feature item here, and mine had brisket on every other slice - but was otherwise delicious. The Donair pizza looked like the kitchen started making a straight pepperoni and then remembered it was something else, with minimal Donair meat and nothing else to distinguish it. Simply an ok pizza. The signature garlic sauce was absent, but we figured asking for a re-do would result in a longer wait time. Very meh overall, would try again on a busier night as their catering is excellent.
All these 5 star reviews tricked me. I suggested this place to the family when the original place we wanted to try was closed. I'll never live this horrible recommendation down. We left so disappointed.
My appetite was immediately squashed by the servers poor hygiene. Service was slow. Food was mediocre, bland and barely warm. They definitely had our plates sitting under a heat lamp. No one was impressed. We wanted to leave as soon as we walked in due to the state of disrepair but I convinced everyone to give the food a try. They served us 3 napkins for 6 people and one of the napkins had food on it. The fork was covered in old food. The table was poorly fixed with clear caulking and it's impossible that it gets cleaned any better than the silverware. We were utterly disgusted from start to finish.
If I could give the Kitchener location a zero, I would. A friend and I decided to try this restaurant before going to a concert. We arrived to see the place was not busy at all (3 other couples already seated). To make a really long horrible story short, the service was terrible, most of the drinks on the menu were not available and the food took over an hour (2 poutines) and never did arrive. We were going to miss our concert (after wasting 1.5hrs at this restaurant) so we cancelled our order, paid for our drinks and left. I will never be back.
