Terrible experience of discrimination at this restaurant. I went with a friend who speaks English as his second language. He is of Dominican descent and has darker skin. We were not offered a menu. He ordered a beer and was told he could only have a water because he was slurring. I explained that it was an accent and not a slur, and that he was new to Canada and had difficulty ordering without a menu and she refused to serve him stating that he was too drunk. We were completely sober. I was in shock and have never experienced this kind of discrimination before. Even after explaining this to the manager, we were still asked to leave. Absolutely disgusting behaviour of restaurant owners and people in the service industry- not inclusive and it was racist. With no apology, we left. I refuse to go to the restaurant again and encourage others to avoid.

We've come to town for a convention for 3 years now and about every evening, our group ends up back here to close out the evening.
The bar is centrally located near major hotels, RBC Place, and Canada Life Place. Generally there is 1 person tending bar and 1 server for front of house staff. While service can sometimes be slightly slow as a result, they've never gotten an order wrong. More amazingly, they have incredible memories. Coming back the next night they already know the name for the tab and may even remember what you had to drink the night before. Given that our group consisted of people with different budgets for the trip, this place was great for everybody.
If any in your party aren't drinkers, there are a few typical non-alcoholic options. They also have a solid food selection (pot stickers were great, avoid the pizza since it's just reheated from a place up the road). There are also a couple pool tables, and a nice outdoor patio if the weather permits.
If you're looking for a mixologist or the latest hot spot for cocktails, this isn't your place. If you want a friendly neighborhood bar in a great location with excellent staff, stop on in.

Shoutout to Kaylee (I think that's how you spell it? Sorry!) for handling 50+ TennoCon creators and VIPs at once on a random Friday night!
Went in late on a Tuesday night. Kitchen was closed, couldn’t try the food. But had a pint. $5 pint on the house special. The guy at the bar was really nice. Was not busy by any means. Honestly had a good time. Hopefully we come back and try some food at some point.

Used to love this place for their Taco Tuesday nights!
However, I will NEVER be returning after seeing their sign out front in support of the anti-masked nurse.
Cheapest booze in London and they're downtown

While trying to be empathetic of the times I believe things may have changed over the last few years. The Ale House just isn’t what it used to be. We supported this little bar through the pandemic and it was a great place to order a quick mean from with no complaints. The menu that was, used to be great! Sadly that’s now changed.
Service was sub par by the server. There was only one server on as it was not thay busy. We were tended to in a quick manner.
The menu has drastically changed over the last few years. The food was absolutely horrendous but by that time on a busy Friday night we sucked it up and ate. It’s my own fault having not said anything but again, low expectations for dive bar food. The roast beef sandwich left me sick after the fact and the garlic bread looked to have been cut up bread, covered in butter wirh Melted cheese on it…. Anyone could’ve put a little effort into that!
I won’t be going there to eat again.
Positives,
The Diet Coke and the water 🙃
Great atmosphere to grab a beer and watch the game or chit chat with a group of friends at the bar. There’s a nice little patio space around the back and they’ve made the most of the space. The bar tender was friendly and hustling behind the bar to take care of those there.

Not sure if they are under new management but my gosh not good!! What’s going on?? The menu…. Small and crap. It’s Wednesday night and there is no waitress. Only the bartender. I asked for 4 vodka on the rocks with red bull. Got 2 doubles instead. Not what I asked for. With NO ICE!!! Hello it’s an alcoholic beverage it needs ice. Dont get me started the wings!!! Nasty dry and so small. Not going to be coming here anymore. They use to be soo good. The amazing appetizer. Where’s the spinach dip??? Where the amazing chicken tenders??? Ya they may have been busy but service NOT GOOD. FoodNOT GOOD.
