Been here with a couple of friends and had a great time. There was no wait time and we were seated immediately. The vibe of this place is great.
Service was good except where they forgot to bring an item from our order despite asking them twice. Seems they forgot to give that order at the back. Had to wait just about under an hour for that item to be brought to our table.
Overall a good experience.

One of the best patios in London. The food menu is more for snacking. Service can be hit or miss, but I've always felt they were polite.

Took an Uber to downtown area. When we got to this open-air pub it was already packed. Vibe was identifiable to ALL. Thus, the mix of young, middle, and older-aged groups. Drinks while standing up ain’t that bad. The weather was the warmest that time. Place was too congested but in a good way. Finished our drinks and left in 30 minutes. On to the next.

Great food and ambience
Barney’s is a lively spot in downtown London with a decent-sized space and a great open-air seating area that gives it a relaxed, summery vibe. It’s especially popular once the sun goes down – the place fills up quickly and the energy really picks up.
There’s a DJ on-site keeping the music going, and plenty of staff circulating to keep things running smoothly, even when it gets crowded. While the atmosphere seemed to be the main draw for most people – more about the scene than the menu – there were still food and drink options available if you’re looking to order something.
Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a fun night out with good vibes and a social crowd.

We were welcomed and seated when we went in, however we waited over 20 minutes and no one came to take our order. A table of people were seated next to us and immediately had their order taken. We got up and left, awful service.

Barney’s – A True London Gem, Not Just for Students
Barney’s, located at 671 Richmond St. in London, Ontario, has been a well-known staple in the city for years. It shares its space with its sister venue, Ceeps, a nightclub that opens on select nights—usually weekends—and the energy between the two spots adds to the charm of the area.
Before visiting, I had heard from some locals that Barney’s was mostly a student hangout for Western and Fanshawe students. While there are university students here, that perception couldn’t be further from the truth. When I visited on a lively Monday evening, the patio was packed—not just with students, but with families, teens, young professionals, and long-time Londoners. It’s clearly a spot that welcomes everyone.
What makes Barney’s stand out is its patio—beautifully set along Richmond Street with great views and even better people-watching. It gives off a bit of a Toronto vibe, showing just how much London has grown over the years.
Our server, Maya, deserves a special mention. Although she seemed fairly new to the industry, she was managing a large section almost on her own and doing an incredible job. She was attentive, friendly, and working hard to promote food and drink specials, all while keeping a full patio running smoothly. As the night went on, more staff joined, but Maya never missed a beat. Her effort didn’t go unnoticed.
We tried the Corona-sponsored drink specials and their single-serve tacos—which were delicious. The nachos, though, were the showstopper: generous, fully loaded, and more than enough to feed a group. The red sangria was also excellent—refreshing and perfectly balanced.
I didn’t see a single table waiting long or looking frustrated. Service was consistently great across the board, and it was clear the staff—both front and back of house—were working hard to deliver a great experience.
There are lots of patio options in the Richmond Row area, but I’ll definitely be coming back to Barney’s—and I’ll be asking to sit in Maya’s section again. She’s got so much potential, and I’m sure she’ll flourish in this role.
Thanks, Barney’s, for a fantastic evening. We’ll be seeing you again soon!
