First time trying Beladi’s and sadly I’m disappointed. Ordered a chicken shawarma bowl and Turkish cheese manakish.
To begin, the food arrived cold. But it’s hard to know if that’s on the restaurant or the delivery driver.
In terms of the food, I think I received a chicken tawouk bowl instead of chicken shawarma? Shawarma is usually thin slices not big thick chunks, so I’m not sure what exactly I received. Might not seem like a big deal, but I strongly disliked the texture and taste of the chicken chunks. The bowl looked quite big, but there were a lot of large pieces of lettuce in the salad and it didn’t have much protein. The pickles and turnip were quite good. I found the garlic sauce and hummus lacked flavour and the rice had a sweet taste, which I wasn’t expecting.
Turning to the Turkish cheese manakesh, although it was cold, it was easy to heat up. I was surprised to find that it was a lot smaller than I had expected and a lot more “crust,” especially compared to the photo in the app. There was also quite a bit more parsley concentrated in the cheese area, and while I like parsley the flavour was overbearing.
I might consider trying some other options here, but I probably wouldn’t have the shawarma again, especially because there are so many amazing shawarma options in this city.

I was recommended this place, but was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. In all items ordered the chicken had a lot of skin and gristle and it seemed like it had been sitting in the shave tray for a long time (not fresh and dry). The pickles and turnips were all dried out as well. Perhaps this experience was because they were 30 minutes from closing, but that’s not a valid excuse in my opinion. Very unhappy.
Beladi Bakery is way overpriced! I went in expecting fair prices, but ten pita breads for $6 (Saidoon Bread) ?!!!! That’s triple the cost of other stores! When I asked the employee about the high price, they simply said, That’s our price. Definitely not worth it.

This truly is a hidden gem. Amazing traditional Mediterranean food. I used to eat at a traditional Mediterranean restaurant when I lived quite far away and always missed it. Tried several places that just couldn’t compare. This one, this is just like I remember. If you’re looking for that real true traditional style, this is it. Two thumbs up!
