I would like to share a wonderful retail experience I had at the Black Walnut Cafe, Friday morning of the 13th.
Kate recommended an eggy scone and an Italian Stallion.
She was kind, pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient
Each in its own was a stellar recommendation.
Jared poured with skill and aplomb, and the result was fabulous. He was affable, and happy to share his knowledge and expertise.
I cannot thank these fine, young folks enough for going out of their way to enhance my experience.
They are wonderful ambassadors of a stellar establishment. (Richmond & Piccadilly)

I was really looking forward to visiting this cafe as I recently moved to the area. I made plans with a friend to visit with our laptops and do some remote work. Upon arrival, the place is beautiful and the vibes are awesome. The staff was helpful with recommending a lunch item and drink. My drink order got messed up, but that’s totally fine I think a new girl was training and it was very busy. Looking around, it’s a very busy place with 85% of guests working from laptops. This is what I don’t understand - if you know the majority of your customers are remote workers, why would you not offer wifi? I’m not even expecting it for free - nothing in life is free. We would happily pay for it on top of paying for our meals and drinks. When we asked if there was wifi, the employee rudely said nope as if they get asked 1000 times a day - which I’m sure they do. I understand the logistics of not wanting customers camping out all day using their wifi and taking up space. I understand the business aspect of wanting a quick turn over to generate more business and offer more people the experience of a quick sit down service. But when a huge majority of your customers would benefit from this, why not figure out a way to offer it? Like pre-paid 1-hour wifi slot? Support the people that support you, instead of making it feel like we’re annoying you with our patronage. I live across the road and would bring peers here every day with business if they offered wifi, but now I’ll have to find another option. Please remember who keeps your cafe so busy.

I enjoy this place more than most cafés I've been to in the London area. The staff are super sweet and they definitely have steady business since it's very busy the couple times I've been there but that's great in my opinion! Delicious food & coffee.

Very chill place to be in a snowy Saturday. The music playing is definitely my kind which brings back a lot of good old memory.
My chai latte (not pictured) is prepared fresh and warm. While the London fog custard cream is delicious.
Doesn’t need a rating as it is already so good! 😊 Still felt like adding more.

Cozy coffee cafe with a beautifully elegant atmosphere. Staff is polite, cheerful, and knowledgeable their coffee.
Ordered my usual Americano and was pleased with the flavour profile of the espresso they use in-house. Also ordered a “cruffin” pastry and it was the largest, most wonderfully flaky one I’ve ever had and jam-packed with creamy filling.
When I’m travelling, I like to purchase beans from good roasters I visit, so I also took home a bag of their Ethiopian/Sumatran Dark Roast. After grinding the beans later at home for my Chemex pour-over, the freshness of the product was soon apparent with the lively “bloom” that came off the grinds as I added hot water. Mouthfeel was silky. Flavour was bold and long-lasting, with smoky/chocolate notes lingering on the palate.
Overall a wonderful experience and a coffee shop that I would definitely visit again - the delectable pastry selection being a huge selling point.
If I were to nitpick and find any negative, I would have to say it can become a little crowded in the winter months, due to its popularity and the amount of retirees and remote workers that want to spend lengthy time there. However, they have created a patio for the warmer months that, no doubt, helps to alleviate this problem. The staff vibe is one of the most important contributing factors for me when deciding to support a small business and these awesome people will see me again, next time I’m back in town to visit family!

Sometimes overcrowding can be an issue but when you are there, the vibes, the food, the drinks all just make it worth it. Love this place.

You aren’t allowed to sit for over an hour and they decide to tell you after you buy stuff so you can’t go anywhere else. Not a fan especially for students during exam season. Staff making coffee was very nice and friendly and coffee is good but person kicking people out was not very nice and we were only told we had an hour after we had set up all our study stuff. Very disappointed for a place with lots of seating.
