It was our first time to visit Katana this summers.
The place is spot on and has a patio and inside seating available. Personally the location was 10/10 for me.
We ordered a couple of items.
The quinoa salad was great. Chicken bowl was ok but specially the rice in the chicken bowl was so hard to chew that it didn’t feel fresh. Falafel wrap was no good either because the falafel balls seemed too fried to a level that it tasted like burnt ones. Red lobster soup was good.
The ambience was nice and service was great too.
Overall, not a great experience because of food.

Katana consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience, making it a preferred destination for our family members from abroad. The quality of the cuisine, ambiance, and service is consistently commendable.

Abysmal service. Two different encounters with the same waitress (in her 50's). Forgotten drinks, meals coming out 15 min apart so no one can eat together and waiting embarrassingly long to get a cheque and get out. She wasn't overworked or short staffed, she was simply bad at her job. Everyone in my family left the restaurant frustrated and annoyed.
I have been on other occasions with the younger waitresses who were fantastic at their job and pleasant to deal with.

I had a great visit to Katana Kafe in London, Ontario. I started with the calamari appetizer, which was tender and flavorful, and followed it with a perfectly cooked steak for my main course. Both dishes were delicious and well-presented. The atmosphere was relaxed with a nice view, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a place I’d recommend for a nice meal while plane watching.

Brunch was excellent, and we sat outside and watched the little planes come and go. Great place!

Did not enjoy. Food was tasteless. 5 of us had different orders - none of us enjoyed. Ruben was very dry, hamburger was tasteless, fries were rubbery, mussels were also tasteless. Flies everywhere spoiling the experience. Wont go back.

We mostly went because of the views/atmosphere and were not disappointed. The views from the patio are wonderful, watching airplanes land and take off.

The food was just okay. Nothing fantastic and we found something super hard (a shell?) in the cake.

Service was also just okay. Not nearly enough staff for the number of tables and the waitress was stretched thin.

Set against the ever-changing backdrop of planes lifting into the sky or gliding in for landing, Katana Kafé in London, Ontario, offers one of the most unique dining vistas in the region. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates a dinner with a view, the ambiance alone makes this spot worth visiting. An outdoor patio beckons during milder days, but on a recent sweltering evening, I opted to stay inside and enjoy the chilled comfort of the dining room.

Having been impressed by several lunchtime visits in the past — where the burger stands out as a reliable crowd-pleaser — I decided to return for dinner, curious to see if the evening experience would rise to the same altitude.

The menu still impresses with its range and creativity. We started with the duck wonton nachos, which were nothing short of addictive. The wontons were crisp and rich, perhaps a touch greasy, but the accompanying sauces were bright, well-balanced, and thoughtfully paired. Fresh bread arrived at the table — dense yet airy, dangerously easy to devour without realizing just how much you've had.

For the main, the catch of the day — a generous portion of pickerel — was beautifully cooked, its skin crisp, flesh flaky, and seasoned with restraint. However, the accompanying risotto proved overwhelming. Heavily portioned and assertively flavoured, it lacked the delicacy the fish deserved beside it.

While the dinner food quality was commendable, the service didn’t quite reach the polished standard I’ve experienced during lunch. Our server was genial but seemed stretched — a forgotten wine order had to be gently reminded, and the overall attentiveness fell just short of expectations set by past daytime visits.

Still, there’s much to love about Katana Kafé. Its setting is unmatched in London, and the lunch experience — with its tight service, breezy atmosphere, and well-executed classics — remains my preferred way to enjoy what this restaurant does best. Dinner has its merits, but the magic of Katana seems to shine brightest in the midday sun, with planes overhead and a burger on your plate.

Final verdict:
✨ Best for: A scenic lunch with friends, family, or colleagues
🌙 Skip or keep for dinner? Try once, but lunch is the real standout
💸 Price point: Fair value for quality and view, but lunch offers better overall balance
🍷 Service: Friendly, but sharper at lunch
⭐ Overall rating: 4/5 — elevated by atmosphere, slightly grounded by dinner service

Once again, a great go to restaurant. The Tom Collins drink was absolutely awful. Pure lemon juice and vodka. We were looking so forward to this drink.
