Visited recently to catch up with a friend. OK coffee (I am picky and prefer places that roast small batches in house) and great vibes. It is a bit cramped and noisy in the morning, which it totally understandable for a coffee shop. Plenty of outdoor seating is available but it was very warm outside when I visited. I didn't try the food options but my friend enjoyed their matcha and breakfast. Would visit again.

Lovely food. Staff uninformed about food allergies… and gave attitude about it.

Basically my go-to coffeeshop, their sandwiches are great (namely the Bacon Kickstarter and Smoked Salmon), the coffee is amazing, and it’s just all-around wonderful.
Negatives that I won’t let bring down the rating are too many people being allowed to sit for hours on laptops taking up all the space when it’s busy (maybe make a rule to keep laptops to the communal table or something?), and the AC being run slightly too cold and the vents just happen to be aiming at your legs (bench) or butt (armchairs)! 😂
BUT I love it there. I do recommend it!

Excellent coffee (5/5), although the pastries are middling, at best (2-3/5). The staff are welcoming and friendly.
A great neighborhood spot for coffee, but maybe skip the pastries.

Honestly, this place is overrated. It use to be one of my favourite places to go but like anything that has been on hype for too long it has lost its charm. Employees were rude. There was a line and they kept ignoring the people and drinking their coffee. The almond chocolate croissant I got it was dry as sandpaper, my husband’s cookie was smaller than his tiny coffee and we payed 25$ for 4 things. The floors were dirty and they had a disgusting logo mat as well. We were lucky to sit, but had people standing around and drinking their coffee all over the place, making it feel crowded and rushed. Coffee used to be better. We didn’t know who was working and who wasn’t due a lack of uniform or cohesiveness all around. Overall very unimpressed.

I recently visited Locamotive Cafe, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The staff member who served us was loud and not very polite, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. On top of that, she gave us small coffees and mixed up the orders between regular coffee and an Americano. It was clear that others in the cafe noticed her behavior, as people were looking at each other, confused by her attitude. I was hoping for a more welcoming and professional experience, but sadly, this wasn’t the case.

I’m not from London. But my wife and I have been staying in the area over the past five months. Hence my observations are from several visits over this past period.
Over a variety of times the following trends emerged:
-Nothing is accessible! No wheelchair access and consideration of mobility challenged individuals. A person with a walker would be challenged to access the place. Why is this acceptable?
-Unengaged staff. Hardly ever a smile or conversation-and it wasn’t because it was busy.
-Slowest coffee making baristas ever. 7 minutes for an americano and I was the only one ordering. I always ordered an americano.
Coffee was lukewarm at best. Hard to tell why there were three staff making coffee
-Absolutely lousy seating arrangements. The row of tables across from the bar are always occupied by individual people who seem to have an entitled ability to occupy the seat for as long they want. Yes they had ordered a coffee at some time but most of our time there these individuals were done their coffee and on their laptops when we got there and still there when we left 30-45 minutes later. We witnessed couples or groups of three come in and look around and wait for a table to open up but never got one and left. Solution-turn off the free wifi!
-Staff were busy often cleaning counters and washing glasses but NEVER did we see any one wipe a table or mop up a floor area.
I read the reviews before going the first time and thought my first visit in September was a one off bad experience. It turns out it was the norm and this is now January. I’ll need to be convinced to go back.

Upscale vibes, customer service 5/5, sitting area and ambiance 5/5, food - breakfast burrito 1/5, cappuccino 1/5, matcha 1/5.
Come for the vibes not the food as it was quite bland and sub-par. Better to bring a snack and order some water or black coffee and make your own drink with the condiments.

The gluten free baked goods were very tasty. The coffee, however, was mediocre and Luke-warm. I got a pumpkin spice latte and I couldn’t taste the coffee at all.

I've been to this shop three times. I'm from Toronto and must say it's a solid coffee shop for the city with great food and okay coffee.
However, the staff that's ruining it all. Their communication style left much to be desired. I didn't feel welcome there. And based on the reviews it wasn't only me who felt the same.
Overall, would i recommend it - yes, if you treat this place like a drive-through or passive aggression is your thing.
Cheers!

This was just awful. They did other people's orders in between ours. The cappuccino tasted awful and also looked bad as well. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this visit, and won't be returning there. highly disappointed for the price of the coffee for what I received.

First of all- coffee is fantastic!
Why there’s 0 baked goods at 1 pm???? If you run out so early in the day, then order more in the future or just send an employee to get some from a nearby bakery or even a grocery store. Also seating is a problem since there’s lots of laptop people with empty cups lingering for hours…

Went in to order a tea this morning. Barista stopped halfway through making my tea to answer a phone call. She then proceeded to talk on the phone for a few minutes about a boy she was dating instead of finishing making the tea. Yea was also quite overpriced
