Nice atmosphere and kind staff, but sadly coffee beans aren't good. Barista added cinnamon powder to the cappucino without asking.

First time order via Skip: turkey panini and veggie panini. Both were excellent! Crisp, not greasy, tasty warm or cold, and good flavour combinations. Next time I'll ask for the turkey without the strawberry jam (personal preference) but there will be a next time - soon.

Went here for the first time. I was really excited to play some games with my friends and try their drinks. I made sure to order my drink more than an hour before closing time because some places don’t serve alcohol an hour before close. While I was ordering from the very nice lady behind the counter, the male employee with a ponytail scooted to her side and said they can’t serve drinks past one hour to closing time. They closed at 11pm. It was 9:50pm. Maybe an espresso martini would’ve taken too long to make, but considering that there were no other orders and 3 employees working behind the counter, I’m guessing that’s not the case this time. I’m just really bummed. I made a point of leaving enough time to order and I was really excited to try this place out. I won’t be back.

I have been coming downtown again after the time of EPIC yuckiness known as covid. Queue ballard with a mournful soundtrack. Think Frodo and Sam in Mordor, you get the feeling.Happily Saga remains an oasis in the downtown core. I am happy to meet many of the new staff. Today I met one of the most positive and cheerful person that I have met in a very long time.To me good customer service is vital for me to become a repeat customer. Today was wonderful in this regard.

Summary:The coffee was good and the board game selections are solid. The staff were very nice and gave good service; however, when it got really busy, the service faltered (understandable). Some confusion:When my partner and I arrived, a staff member took our orders and told us that the board game fee was $5 for an hour and $8 for the day. We were fine with this and did not limit ourselves to an hour since it was only a $3 difference; we stayed 2 hours. When we went to pay for everything, we ended up getting charged $10 ($5 for each hour) by a different staff member. It’s not a big deal since the difference was only $2, but I was left confused on what the actual policy was supposed to be.

The warm drinks and vegetable panini are my favourite. There is also a veggie and jalapeño bagel bomb which is also really tasty, although it would taste better if it was toasted after they nuked it. Still really good, though. Not wheelchair accessible or mobility friendly as the washrooms are down a flight of stairs and there are 2 steps to get into the Café. Although very spacious once inside the Café (walker friendly). Always a lot of games to pick from and they are in good shape. A really neat concept for a Café, definitely would recommend.Vegetarian options: Vegetable panini is delicious, could ask to be made without cheese for a vegan option. Went here with some friends and it was really nice. A small cafe with board games. For sure get the all day board game option and not hourly since it’s only a few dollars more expensive for unlimited time (unless it’s busy). Got a flavoured lemonade and it was really good, a little expensive though.

Waited 37 minutes for one single drink.Terribly understaffed, and no sense of urgency. There was one staff member present making all the orders. When I walked in he said there were about six orders ahead of me. That’s fine. Then I realized the staff member was alone making sandwiches and drinks for every customer ahead of me as well as delivering them directly to the table, all the while taking orders from people who were coming into the cafe. In addition to that, he was warning each customer that came in of the delay, which turned away about five customers in the 37 minutes I was waiting.Logically, there should be at least two staff present - one to make food, and one to make drinks, and maybe even asking the customer to come retrieve their orders from the counter in order to save time. Or having the sandwiches pre made in order to make it easier for the staff.Today the Covent Market across the street was closed and I saw a lot of customers turn from those doors and try to come to your cafe. That is something you might have considered and had an extra staff member present on this day.

Service is generally really good, food and drink selection is large and all delicious. Great selection of games.Only downside is it's small, so if you're going with a larger group reserve ahead to ensure you get a large enough table, as space is VERY limited.Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian options, I have not tried all but what I have tried is good.Parking: No on-site parking but there is a large lot nearby (York & Talbot, entrance off Talbot) that is a little expensive but parking is free after 6pm.

They didn’t mention that there is a playing fee at all and charged us $11.50 . Even bringing your own game is going to be a $5-$8 + tax charge PER PERSON. It’s better off to make coffee at home and play your own games all day for free. Not returning again. Recommending to charge a minimum order fee to order instead for people playing games
