I was a regular at their old Sakata Ramen location in London back in the 2010s. Y'all from Komoka don't know how good you have it!
Full disclosure: I haven't been to their Komoka location, but based on the reviews, it sounds like they're doing the same recipes. One day, I'll be back!!
I live in Toronto now, and you'd think Toronto ramen would be better because of all the competition. Nope! I've had Konjiki (which has a Michelin star), Midori, Isshin, Kinton, Sansotei, at least three others whose names I can't even remember, but my favourite is still Sakata.
Sakata's ramen is rich, consistent, and DETAILED. The pork was tender each time, the broth was rich and flavourful each time, the noodles were springy and al dente, etc. At Midori, I get a 9/10 bowl of ramen one time only to get a 4/10 bowl the next, despite ordering the same thing. At Kinton, it's a tossup on if your chashu will taste like they remembered to season it. At most ramen places, I'll really like one item—the noodles at one place, the broth at the other—and be kind of meh on the rest of the ingredients, but I liked Sakata's whole bowl.
At Sakata, the value is great—you get an egg, wood ear mushrooms, corn, and bean sprouts with every bowl! Here in Toronto, you might get just ONE of those toppings, and if you want to order another, you'll have to fork over an extra $2.50 for each.
Also, if they still have their pork belly skewers, GET THEM. They were melt in your mouth on the inside, crispy on the outside. I have only CALLED a restaurant after getting delivery to tell them that a specific item was amazing once in my life, and that restaurant was Sakata.
I don't eat seafood, but I get yam tempura rolls everywhere, and Sakata's were the best of the best.
I miss Sakata SO MUCH.
Hands down AMAZING food!
This was my first time having Sakata after moving from downtown London to their new location.
It was a perfect experience. The server was kind and attentive.
The food was on a level of its own. We had chicken skewers, tuna avocado rolls, spicy ramen and sashimi. They were all perfectly prepared. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Incredible sushi and ramen I’ve ever tried. 100% worth to come and try.
It's frustrating because I want to support local but they are mediocre at best and way upcharge to make up for the fact they are the only sushi close by ... Limited choice mostly rice and overpriced for what you get. Wish they would revamp their menu and offer more sushi options
Always excellent and made fresh. Authentic Japanese food same as you’d find in Japan. We order here regularly, would definitely recommend.
Hidden gem! Some of the best sushi I have ever had! Construction, quality and taste are all perfect.
Very high quality sushi. Excellent experience!
Amazing food. Best ramen in the London area! And best sushi IMO. Very nice family run business. Used to be downtown and the quality is still great.
Sakata is and will always be the number one spot for the best sushi and ramen around! Can’t recommend them enough

Best sashimi I have ever had in London, and some of the best this side of Vancouver. Fresh and beautiful portions with beautiful presentation. The service and atmosphere are simple and nice.
This place is 100% worth the short drive from London to Komoka!! The sushi and sashimi pieces are HUGE and super fresh. The wait staff is prompt and pleasant. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable and quiet. Only 4 tables and a small counter so space is limited but it makes it more quaint.
Would recommend.
Very good sushi spot. The ingredients are always fresh and quality is always great. Very happy to have this place around the corner.
Food is as good as the old place. Ordered the black garlic tonkotsu ramen, and it was filled with umami. Never a good time like ramen at Sakata
This place is really nice with good service, good food, and an amazing atmosphere!
