Absolutely AMAZING chicken shawarma. The our fried inside and might’ve been the the best shawarma I’ve ever had. I mean that legitimately. If you’re in Canada an you don’t go it’s practically a sin.

To the Management of Shelby’s Shawarma,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and outrage regarding a profoundly misleading experience I had at your establishment, one that has caused not only emotional distress but also significant financial loss.
As a Muslim customer from South Africa, I made a deliberate and costly decision to visit your store in Canada based on the impression that your restaurant was halal. This impression was formed through your social media presence—particularly your TikTok videos—which consistently showcase your food in a way that appeals to Muslim audiences. Nowhere in your content did you clarify that your menu includes non-halal items such as bacon, nor did you make any effort to disclose that your establishment is not fully halal. This omission is not only misleading—it is deeply disrespectful to Muslim customers who rely on such information to make informed choices that align with their faith.
Upon arriving at your store, I was shocked and disheartened to see bacon listed on the menu. This was not a minor oversight. It was a complete betrayal of the trust I had placed in your brand. I had traveled thousands of kilometers, spending approximately R30,000 on flight tickets alone, with the intention of experiencing what I believed to be a halal-friendly dining experience. Instead, I was met with a menu that blatantly disregards halal dietary requirements, and staff who offered no apology or explanation for the misleading representation.
This experience was not just disappointing—it was humiliating. As someone who observes halal dietary laws, I felt disrespected and deceived. Your failure to clearly communicate your restaurant’s halal status is not only irresponsible, it borders on cultural insensitivity. In a time when inclusivity and transparency are paramount, your lack of clarity is unacceptable.
I must ask: Why was there no disclaimer in your videos? Why did you not make it explicitly clear that your restaurant serves non-halal items? You have a large Muslim following online, and many of us assumed—based on your branding and content—that your food was halal. This assumption was not unfounded; it was based on your deliberate marketing choices. To exploit that trust for views and engagement, only to disappoint customers in person, is disgraceful.
I am demanding a formal response and public clarification from your management. You owe your Muslim audience transparency and accountability. At the very least, you should issue a statement acknowledging the confusion and apologizing to those who were misled. Furthermore, I urge you to update your social media platforms and in-store signage to clearly indicate your halal status—or lack thereof—so that no other customer has to endure the same experience I did.
This was not just a wasted trip. It was a violation of my religious values and a misuse of my hard-earned money. I expected better from a brand that presents itself as culturally aware and community-oriented. Instead, I was met with indifference and misrepresentation.
I sincerely hope you take this complaint seriously and reflect on the impact your lack of transparency has had. I will be sharing my experience with others in the community to ensure they are not similarly misled.
Sincerely,
A Deeply Disappointed and Offended Customer

The place is amazing! Both the guys were very patient and made sure any concerns about allergens were addressed. Great food, great atmosphere!
Employees are so nice and the food quality is amazing! The cooks really care about the quality of the food and always ensure customer satisfaction! I would definitely recommend Shelbey’s!
Boutine bowls aren’t worth the money. Chicken is hardly in it and also bowls aren’t filled properly. Big bowls with less filling. Rather get Osmow’s. Good bye Shelby’s.
I tried the Traditional Bite at Shelby’s Shawarma, and it was packed with flavor—tender meat, fresh veggies, and delicious souces. A satisfying and tasty snack, though it can get a bit messy to eat.
If you’re looking for a delicious, filling, and satisfying meal, Shelby’s is the place to go! The wraps were packed with flavor, the fries were crispy, and the sauces were on point. It was so good that I barely managed to finish—definitely more food than I expected! Highly recommend to anyone craving great shawarma. Also great customer service
