I got take out for my family on Christmas eve. It’s was a large order (11 meals- spent $230), and it was ready in literally 10 minutes. I was surprised, but impressed with their efficiency. Until I got home, and found that the kids meal that I purchased contained raw chicken fingers. My husband cut it up for son and instantly noticed that it was pink in the middle. If we hadn’t have cut it up, and gave it my 2 year old son to eat with his fingers, it would have been a long night at emerg! To be honest, I was shocked. Isn’t there supposed to be a timer when cooking/deep frying food on restaurant appliances to insure food is cooked throughly? We enjoy Swiss chalet, but will think twice before ordering again, or going to that location.
It was a very long wait for lunchtime seating. They were understaffed with insufficient supplies the day before. Food portions were very good as they should be for the cost. Service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was rather distracting with other guests on a phone call with speaker on.
Great meal, even being short-staffed and a bit of a wait , we were seated quickly and our waitress Chelsea was efficient and took great care of my granddaughter and myself. The meal was served quickly and was exactly as we ordered it..
Kid-friendliness: Polite and spoke directly to her and ask what her choice s were.
Nestled in a small strip mall, this location for Swiss Chalet seems a little dated for decor. Further investigation reveals that it will revert to corporate ownership in 2023 and would be renovated but I could only review it in its current state.Seating is ample and it can accommodate larger parties or even events. We ordered the cheese pizza combo for the kids' meals while I got the double leg. The pizza was rated well by the kids and I found the chicken to be just as consistent as other locations.Service is excellent and they are staffed with experience. They know how to manage their customers despite the high customer-to-waiter ratio.Parking is ample and not an issue in the area.
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and chairs are available
Parking: There is ample parking
We had a nice dinner. Tracey served us and did a great job. She was friendly, prompt and very kind. Unfortunately, there were two people complaining the next booth over from us about the service saying they were in a rush. ( they didn’t wait long for their meal… less then 20 mins and were very rude) Who eats out and then is in a rush? My teenage children can time manage better than that. The acting manager was very calm and dealt with the situation swiftly and properly. Tracey and the rest of the staff handle the situation well and apologized to us for having to witness this ridiculous behaviour. I recommend this location and Tracey as your server.
When we went there we told there was a half hour wait which was fine. After the half hour we ended up waiting another half hour to be seated, in total we waited almost an hr. This was our first date night in 14 months after the birth of our daughter. In addition to this the service was slow, we waited almost 50 minutes for our main course, along with that our food was barley warm.
5 stars despite 1 star waitress named Marilyn i think but rather old woman if name incorrect. Read on. My wife and I came here to meet to have a first time get together with her coworker friend and her husband. The young male greeter at the door brought us in and just before we sat at the table he gave us, I asked for a booth. The waitress in the section we were to be sitting in, immediately bawled out this young man saying he needed to stop doing this and sitting people as he was. She was gruff and obstinate in front of our group, the table she was at and anyone in ear shot. A conversation best left behind closed doors. She rubbed us the wrong way from the get go and free advice lady but had you apologized to us and told us you were short staffed, it'd have gone a long way to making amends but you did not.She was slow getting our drinks which us understandable but we didn't know yet about the short staffing yet.We did need a few extra minutes to decide on our meals and when we were finally ready, the gruffster asked us if we were the type of group that liked chatting awhile before ordering. Strike 2.I had to remind her my wife and I got pie slices with our festive meal. She never brought our Lindt chocolates and I forgot myself with all the drama.I'm usually a good tipper and hate leaving nothing but I didn't want the rest of staff to suffer bc of her so I tipped 2 dollars on a 43 dollar check. My wife's friend's husband tipped 0 on a 76 dollar check. After we got up to leave she slammed a tray down hard on our table to send us a message. Strike 3.We sent her one message back by tipping that young greeter 5 dollars each for polite service. Myself and the other husband complained to the manage on duty. Because she is great at her job, she gave us 4 passes to free meals along with the apology the waitress should have given us which would have changed this encounter entirely. So kudos to the manager and greeter but free advice to you madam waitress. Your service was far and away the worst of my life and bad day or not, your behaviour was inexcusable. Most ppl could and would forgive you with better communication but you made a poor to no effort to fix this service and you're unworthy of any tip for how you treated us. Luckily for you the young man greeter was honest to a fault and put the 10 dollar tip in the staff jar but we'd rather he kept it if only for you to see Nunavut (pun intended).Summary. 5 star greeter, 5 star manager. 0 stars and 0 class to our waitress.I'm tempted to return if only to catch a glimpse of you in action preferably across the room to see if you can learn from this.
Pumpkin pie disaster,I’m a big fan of pumpkin pie and rarely complain. I didn’t think you could mess up on the simple ingredients to a pumpkin pie, but whatever they put in it this year it is offputting that I took one bite and then I pushed it aside. Best way to describe it is the smell is off. It doesn’t smell like pumpkin pie. The taste is closer to a white pumpkin. Leaves a melon fragrance in your mouth. And the crust, oh man it’s under cooked and bland.0/10
The only reason I’m giving this branch of the restaurant chain 2 stars and not 1 is the waitress was lovely and working her butt off the whole time we were there (almost 2 hours!). Poor thing had a full restaurant and I never saw one other person working except the front. Due to this unfortunately we ended up waiting over an hour for our food- I had my 92 years old grandpa. I ordered a veggie burger (only vegetarian option on the menu)- it was burnt completely black! It came with literally a bun and the burnt pattie with some over done stale fries for over 10 bucks-I had to ask for ketchup to put on it to choke it down. If I didn’t feel so bad for the poor waitress I would have asked for something else- but didn’t want to bother her and wait an additional hour. Worst experience at a Swiss chalet I’ve ever had and I’ve been in them in 4 different provinces. I understand being understaffed but I do not understand delivery of disgusting food and then actually charging full price for it (essentially gambling that the person was too fed up to do anything about the sub par meal).
Ordered take out. Staff was busy but one staff member Rahul made it a point to ask how my day was, and made small talk. His kindness in those few minutes changed my whole day. I was able to visit the next week for take out once again “how are you doing today ma’am” I also witnessed him help out a co worker who was struggling and he did it selflessly. Amazing work ethic, amazing character, Great worker!

Staff shortage is a major problem for this restaurant. The few staff members on duty were trying their best but it really wasn't enough. We were surrounded by tables that were not cleared. Although I felt bad for them, it was not a pleasant experience. The food was as expected though the child's meal was overcooked pizza and the veggie burger was burnt. A sign on the door says the restaurant closes at 8 pm due to staff shortages. Won't be going back.
My family and I had one of the best dining out experiences that we have had in a long time and it is all thanks to a incredibly special and kind waitress, Wanda. My son was diagnosed with celiac 2 years ago, his world was flipped upside down. Swiss chalet is one of the few places that he can eat. Tonight, unfortunately the one fryer wasn't safe to use for him but it was ok because Wanda made him feel so special. She went above and beyond her job and made not only his night, but my whole family. She did all of this for us right after having an unfortunate incident with some angry customers. I was impressed with her composure and being able to serve us so well, when she was clearly very distressed by the other customers. She showed us true compassion and kindness. It wasn't just about a dining out experience, it was also seeing that there are still kind, wonderful people in the world. We appreciate you Wanda, beyond what words can express.
I rate my visit with a 4 star as the food wasn't great and the chefs kept getting my order incorrect. This 4 star is all because of our server. She was truly an amazing waitress. I would go again just to be served by her.Great service.
June 4th 2:00pm: The food was fine, just a classic chicken dinner. The coconut pie was good. When we entered the reception greeting part was just so cold. I think he was floor supervisor that day and he just seemed so unimpressed by the job or maybe something happened. But our server was super wonderful and even other servers serving other tables were wonderful. The floor supervisor literally was sitting on his phone and the dining area under the tables was messy and fries were on the floor and the dining area was empty no busy peak hours or rush. Only person to notice that was the General Manager in black uniform and I could tell because he actually looked concerned about the restaurant. Shout out to our server Christine, amazing service and wonderful person! You earned these stars?
I called a day ahead to make a special request for my visit the following day, and the front hostess, J- - - - who answered the phone was very accommodating. Even though my request was a little unusual, & went against established Swiss Chalet policies, she took the time to listen patiently & go talk to her manager about it.Dave, the manager, agreed to accommodate my request & my wife & I arrived the next day with no issues whatsoever, as I had hoped. I noticed that they had even written a special note on their seating document at the podium stand with my name on it, so that any staff member working there would be aware of my special request. The food was great, (as it always is in-restaurant) & our server was professional, & accommodated yet another slightly unusual request of mine regarding method of payment, without any negativity.I'd like to thank the staff, especially hostess J - - - - & manager Dave, for taking the time to listen to & grant my request, & accommodate me, without any excuses or judgement.Very refreshing to see employees on all levels doing their jobs well , & keeping customer service, patience, & kindness alive. J - - - - & Dave are true professionals who really have their customer's best interests in mind.Strongly recommended. Swiss Chalet corporate should seriously consider utilizing experienced hostess J - - - - , & manager Dave to train other employees within the company, (& give them both a raise while they're at it).
