On my last trip to Canada before the pandemic, I stopped here for my last meal before returning to the states. The restaurant is small but cozy. The food they serve here is organic, made from scratch, and locally sourced. The menu is a bit small, but expected so that they can put more care into each dish and the prices are reasonable. I thought the ingredients in the dishes I tried were of good quality but I wasn't a huge fan of the execution and design of the dishes. For example I found the poutine too salty, water buffalo burger too plain, kale caesar a bit lacking in flavor, and pulled chicken tacos to be fairly flavorless. But, due to the quality of the ingredients themselves, I didn't dislike the food either. Given the positive reviews of the restaurant, it's possible that I went on an off day or just didn't order the best set of dishes.

Great mix of items for vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore appetites. Reasonably priced. Nice beer mix. Wine list is OK but not fabulous. To be fair, they are trying to remain pure and only have organic wines and locally sourced. Staff are great. Everything is nice and clean.

Honestly, the best Vegan Caesars salad you've ever had! I could eat here every single day!!! Delicious vegan creamy soups, fantastic smoothies that can fill you up before your meal! Flavours you'll crave for weeks! I love in Windsor and this is the only place I'll eat when I come to London! You won't regret it!

I've come here several times and brought friends. We all loved it. I had the veggie burger, but really it's more like a paté. Excellent sauce with it. My friends have had meat meals and found nothing bad to say about their meais. The service was good enough. Highly recommend.

Small place, lots of great food, I had the water buffalo burger and fries. Also tried some pizza. Everything was fresh and flavourful, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Looks like some great local craft beers available as well.

I work in the area and have been here twice. Both times the food was great, and the service was friendly. I'm vegan, and I love having Root Cellar as an option for going out. It's very cozy, and I'd always recommend booking in advance, but it's worth it. Great little place in Old East Village!

Stopping by to express my gratitude for Root Cellar’s presence in London. I first found them when I moved home after two years in Montreal and was desperately missing the cafe culture. They were and, in my opinion, still are the only place in London with a great, hip cafe vibe even now that they have become a more upscale spot. The interior now has a sit-down restaurant side and a more updated, more cafe-like side with a hip, intimate and unique vibe.Root Cellar’s support of local farmers is exemplary, their food is some of the best I’ve had and their lavender latte is my favourite coffee drink. My sisters and I can’t get enough of the vegan kale salad and crave it regularly. The employees and owners are incredible and if Root Cellar were vegan, I’d be applying to work there yesterday. Thank you for being you, Root Cellar, and for being more and more vegan friendly. I’m looking forward to attending more events in their upstairs event room, Taproot.
