Recently, I had the pleasure of celebrating a friend’s birthday at Yaya’s Kitchen. We went on a Friday evening for the 5-course, Afro-vegan menu, that was an absolutely delightful dining experience.  The vibe was cozy and intimate, with the host (Malvin), chef (Maryam aka Yaya), servers and staff all glowing with an inviting sense of warmth, as they shuffled through the restaurant preparing each course and providing us with an immersive experience that we will never forget. We had our servers come around and allow us to wash our hands, in order to facilitate the practice of eating with our hands and bringing the sense of touch into the experience in a tangible way. It was such a beautiful experience. The food was absolutely phenomenal! From the intentionality, love, and preparation that goes into the food, the marriage of the flavours, to the tastes, aromas, and the overall joy that comes from this experience - I can’t say enough positive things. 100/10. Go as soon as you can! We are planning to return for the Saturday evening menu that consists of 7-10 courses, including animal proteins and we cannot wait!
