Overall, it wasn't bad. I had the Sticky Rice Red Beans and Dates. I've been wanting to try a red bean stick rice and I'm so glad I got it here - it wasn't overly sweet or overly bland. For me, it was the right amount of sweetness - I'm not a big fan of very sweet dessert, so if you like sweet things, this sticky rice is not for you. I found out the dates are in the center 😀. I was slightly disappointed with the Shanghainese Meat Balls - it wasn't flavorful, like I've had at another place that was a large restaurant. These Meat Balls only had a single, flat flavor - unfortunately, I'm not certain what it is, but if I had to guess, I would say a strong garlic taste.

I recently checked in at Shanghai Shaomai Restaurant and it was really a surprise! The dishes here instantly brought me back to home. I recommend three must-try dishes:
1. Little Chaos: The soup is clear and delicious, and the Chaos skin is thin and full of fillings. You can feel the delicious soup bursting in your mouth with every bite, which is super satisfying! 2. Shaomai with diced bamboo shoots: The crispness of the bamboo shoots is perfectly combined with the freshness of the meat. The skin is thin and filling, and it melts in your mouth. When dipped in soy sauce, it’s so delicious that you can’t stop eating it! 3. Duck blood vermicelli: The vermicelli is chewy, the duck blood is smooth and tender, and the soup base is delicious. Served with coriander and fried tofu, this bowl is simply a warm and healing soup.
Not only does it taste great, the environment in the store is also very clean and tidy, and the service attitude is also warm and thoughtful. The price is also very affordable, definitely worth a try! If you also like Shanghainese snacks, this store is definitely not to be missed!
