The breads are pretty decent here! The chestnut croisant was my favourite! The melon pan is also decent. I feel like their bread can be a bit softer. We tried this egg and nori bun that had chopped up hard boiled egg. The bread was a bit dense which was not our favourite. Have also tried their red bean donut in the past and found it a bit oily. Will come back to try other things though!

The dinner roll and regular bread is very nice and I would give 4.5 stars for them. However, deep fried donuts is very bad. Oil they used for the donut is very old, a bite of donut make me want to throw up. I am surprised that Japanese would make something that greesy. I bought two donuts for $6 and both end up in garbage.

I have been going to this bakery for 10+ years and their cake has been consistently excellent. Firstly, I was pretty disappointed when the price of the cake almost doubled after COVID, but still continued to buy because of excellent quality. Just recently I order a birthday cake for my father, a red bean green tea cake, it was terrible. The cake was so dry as if it was a week old cake. I felt so bad for my father and the guests. I called the bakery couple of days later and told them about the cake and the only response I got was "we are sorry", with no sincerity. That will be the last time I go there to buy anything. The price is crazy high and the quality is very low.

Disappointed ! We ordered an 8 inch Red Bean Green Tea cake. $77…. Much much expensive than other bakery …. But we willing to pay cause thought a Japanese bakery would make it special. However, when we opened the box to serve, the cake was lopsided…..one side collapsed ….. the middle sink in!!! I never had this experience! It was embarrassing to serve!!

Been a loyal customer for birthday/special event occasions over the years but recently bought a green tea mousse cake and the next day the fruits went all mouldy. It does bring up questionable quality concerns especially when you are paying for $50 cakes.

I used to buy from the bakery at J-Town before it became Nakamura. We got an almond croissant from Nakamura yesterday and it was too burnt, dry and crunchy (instead of flakey). The quality control is definitely not as good as their predecessor.

The place has lost the friendly and mum/pop store feel. It's more about garbing you money than making unique Japanese pastry. The food quality is not as good as it once was since their massive expansion. Now it's just like any other business. What a shame.

They used to give you a free candle and write a birthday message on a chocolate plate for free when you buy a cake for birthdays. Not anymore. They are charging you now. They haven't had any new flavour of cakes for a long time...same old same old. And they have jacked up the price by so much, much more than the other Japanese bakery. The hot food cost $15. But the portion is not nearly enough for a teenager, much less an adult.
