Costa Sorrento is an absolute gem in Markham. Not only is the restaurant visually appealing, but I really appreciate the warmth you feel as soon as you walk through the door.
I came in for dinner this past Saturday and was greeted by a lovely young lady who brought my husband and I to a cute booth at the back corner of the restaurant.
Our server came over instantly to say hello and would be back to take our drink orders. We ordered a pasta dish from the specials list and a couple of apps that came out in perfect timing. Service throughout was seamless, and it was nice seeing the owner greeting all of the tables to make sure everyone was enjoying their meals.
It was a pleasant experience, and we can not wait to return!

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, it’s a 10/10 every single time. I’ve visited for both ticketed events and spontaneous nights out, and no matter the occasion, everything has always been absolutely spot on. The food is the most authentic Italian you’ll find without booking a flight to Italy. And when I say it’s to die for, I truly mean it. Whether it’s the pizza, the pasta, or the specials, every dish is packed with flavour and perfectly prepared, delicious down to the very last bite. I also want to give a special shoutout to the bar staff. They are consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. And the bartender with the gorgeous ginger curls behind the bar is hands down my favorite! She is always so warm and great at what she does.
If you’re thinking about going, don’t hesitate. This place never disappoints!!!

We had such a great experience at Costa Sorrento! Everything was honestly so good from start to finish.
The dish we ordered was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and you can tell it was made with care. It looked beautiful when it came out too, like something you’d want to take a picture of right away. The portions were great and everything tasted fresh and authentic.
And I have to say — Diana was amazing. She really went above and beyond for us. So attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. She did even more than we expected, and it made such a good impression. Service like that makes you want to come back.
Overall, such a lovely dinner and a well-deserved five stars. We’ll definitely be back!

Valentine’s special ended up feeling over-commoditized instead of romantic or special, especially at the price of the package.
Food was quite subpar. - Sous vide beef was overcooked, and left out to dry before it was served - In desserts you want to balance out sugars with other flavours, the Affogato was suffocatingly sweet
The singer when she knew the songs was great, though she sang off key for like 1/4 of her songs, struggled with the audio system at time (sharp feedback, cutting in and out), and didn’t sing until midway through to another 1/4 of the songs. Volume was way too loud on several tracks.
Seating was as cramped as a Walmart McDonalds, bright white overhead lighting like a surgery room, all took away from the overall experience. If the restaurant had dimmer lighting it would have been a lot nicer but the interior decor says “polished” instead of intimate. Scent would have helped a lot too to add to the experience, if the place smelled like bread or pizza for example. The waitress took a Polaroid photo of us, and that was a really cute touch.
Constructive criticism: check out places like Lula Lounge, Old Mill restaurant, Bar Niro for great stands of classy, romantic, intimate vibes in Toronto, or the Birdsong in NYC as the golden standard.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the price but at close to $200 after tip and tax this was really not worth what I paid for.

I ordered light appetizer mussels $25. The taste and appearance are good. The problem is they didn't provide a bowl for the shell until I asked for it, which is a standard when the customer ordered mussels.
A bit pricy for appetizer. Maybe try something else next time.

By far my favourite restaurant to dine at. From their appetizers, mains, gelato and other desserts to their cappuccino I have to have it all every single time. Best gelato I have ever tasted! We dined at Costa Sorrento in Markham and found the experience just okay. We ordered pizza, pasta, veal, and a charcuterie board. The food wasn’t bad, but it was nothing memorable and overall a bit too salty for our taste. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean, with a large menu and plenty of food choices. However, the service was disappointing. The staff came across as cold and unenthusiastic—no smiles—and although the restaurant was very busy, our server never came back to check on us after the food was served. Overall, while the setting was pleasant and the food was decent, the lack of attentive service and standout dishes makes us doubtful we’d return anytime soon.

The restaurant has upscale ambience and one would want to dress up a little for the place. The interiors, lighting and the seating, everything is phenomenal.

I have been here more than 4 times now and service is fast. However, there have been times I wish it was a little better to make it 10/10. Experience has always been pleasant with servers here and they genuinely try to make your experience better.

I genuinely believe that food is better at a restaurant that has a small and simple menu. Costa Sorrento definitely does a fantastic job of keeping their menu interesting yet concise. They have options for Vegan food which definitely gets them brownie points.
My recommendations:
Margherita pizza, Rucola di Pomodirini pizza, Aglio e Olio ( it’s not on menu but you can for it) TIRAMISU IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST, do not miss it. And lastly their pistachio gelato is divine.
Honestly wanted to gatekeep this restaurant but I would like people to go here, have a good time and good meal so that one of my favourite restaurants can always be in business :)
