I haven't been here since maybe before the pandemic, I used to go occasionally since my childhood.
I visited from out of town, because I was craving soup Dumplings and had errands to run.

It was also my partners first soup Dumplings. We were both in love with the mini and regular soup Dumplings. We also had the dumpling with pork and shrimp. I didn't have other items from the menu so it may be biased but the dim sums were SO GOOD.

Service was very simple and very little talking - bring tea pot, bring a paper to write our order. We didn't have a pen so when we were telling our waitress the order she just gave us a pen and told us to write.

I do like the tea they serve. My stomach was very happy afterwards.

The small buns are wonderful, but the bamboos shoot and salted pork soup we ordered feels like using a generic broth used in hotpot restaurant, and the glutinous rice ball is too basic and not flavorful

Our go to for the best Shanghai food in Toronto. Other location in Scarborough also does a great job.

It was okay.

The service and atmosphere was good, but not really impressed with the quantity of food. Really expensive for mostly veggies, we ordered the beef tenderloin but it was mostly covered in onions and very stingy with the meat pieces. They really overload you with carbs, salt and oil.

Would not recommend.

Often times come here, but quite expensive. Love their dumplings and spicy wontons. Wait times for seats and food are sufficient.

Once in a while we have a meal that’s utterly disappointing.

We were excited for Ding Tai Fung’s Shanghai centric dishes, yet all of the flavors were off for us. Mini soup dumplings tasted quite bland in terms of both the filling & the accompanying vinegar. Their Shanghai salted pork soup required us to add salt. By contrast the minced meatballs with cabbage were overly salty giving inconsistent flavours.

It didn’t help that we waited 25 minutes for dishes to arrive mostly lukewarm including the dumplings out of the steaming station. Even the soy milk and soy-stewed pork rice took forever. This after waiting a while for a table during the dinner rush that had our hopes up for a good meal. The menu offerings were all on the pricier side including $12.95 for 6 dumplings.

The only positive was the service, which was at least polite despite being inattentive.

I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and the food always hits the spot, especially the signature soup dumplings—my absolute favorite! I do wish the dumplings were a bit hotter, though. As for other dishes, the Shanghai noodles could use a bit more flavor and depth, but overall, the other dishes are exactly what you’d expect.

Good dumplings but terrible service…

We came here excited to try their dumplings, and while some were great, the experience was ruined by their horrible service.

We ordered four types of dumplings- The steamed mini soup dumplings with pork were my favorite. The Shanghai wontons with spicy sauce were also tasty. The pan-fried pork dumplings and steamed shrimp & pork dumplings were a bit disappointing; They were too big, fell apart easily, and weren’t very enjoyable to eat. We also ordered noodles, but they were completely bland and tasteless.

The worst part was the service. The waitresses were extremely rude, rolling their eyes anytime we asked for something. One even threw a menu at our table after we politely requested an extra one. Out of all the staff we interacted with, only one waitress was slightly nice.

Overall, while some of the dumplings were good, the poor service and attitude make it hard to recommend this place. The prices are also higher compared to other dumpling places.

Pretty bad. I had always thought DTF was supposed to be somewhat premium but given the competition around here this is a pretty piss poor effort. Mid food for premium prices. My plate looked like leftovers and even their signature dish didn’t measure up to what’s served up in the foot court next door. Yikes.

Edit: ok this is an imposter DTF spelling it Ding instead of Din even though the Chinese characters are the same. How this place is still around is beyond me.
