This used to be THE spot back in the day. I even came here a couple years back and it was really good. Unfortunately that's not the case anymore. Overpriced and not worth it. If you know what quality food should taste like, you won't like it here.
Came here last month and was a pretty poor experience. We called before going to check when the kitchen closed to ensure we had enough time. Even though we confirmed before coming they still told us what time they closed and honestly that's not the best way to start out with your customers. If you want to have every cleaned and closed by 10pm, close your kitchen earlier rather than rushing your customers and leaving a bad taste in their mouth.
I ordered the saffron steak and my husband ordered some chicken dish. The steak wasn't bad but the sauce definitely had more then just saffron in it - it was lacking quality.
The chicken was a whole other story. We got two tiny chicken breast pieces for a whopping $21. That's just sad. The chicken wasn't warm at all and it was pink on the inside and bland. My husband upgraded to a saffron poutine as a side and basically just got 7 fries and paid an extra $6 for that! How's that an upgrade, doesn't make any sense. Anyways we told them the chicken was cold and pink and of course they didn't do anything at first until we pushed. They took the chicken back and brought out another one which again was very bland. In the end we didn't pay for the chicken nor were we able to enjoy our meal together. Very disappointing and deff won't be coming back here again.

We had the chicken Parm, picante penne and rose penne from the kids menu. The chicken parm tasted as expected, nothing special but definitely tasty. The two pasta dishes were great and better than expected(especially considering one was from the kids menu). We also order two strawberry daiquiris which were delicious but i would say they were more like strawberry smoothies. We also ordered the creme brûlée which they torch table side and it was exceptional. I would go here again just for the creme brûlée. Service was excellent but the restaurant wasn’t that busy so that may have helped.

The staffs started to discuss about tips (was around 10:16PM), right beside us, seemed unprofessional, and we were asked to leave early, culteries were not served until asked, wasn't a pleasant experience after travelling 30KM (from Pickering). The food is the only reason we visit Kara Mia, and we tip based on the experience. Serving customers should not be different based on time, we made it to the restaurant at 9:50PM after calling and we were notified that we need to be before 10PM, and we were asked to leave at 10:15PM.

Okay, so I am gonna write this cause I’ve been bringing people here for trying out their veg customisation that I generally ask and so far I’ve made so many people try this, but this is what changed in me from today and so they know that it’s coming from a customer who used to trust in their service, hygiene and taste.
So they don’t give plates or cutlery before food, we reached 9:50pm and they kept pushing us to order and wouldn’t give us even 2 minutes. I get that they have to close, but I specifically asked if it was okay if we came close to the closing timings before I reached the restaurant on call. Not just that, there were small flies on the table and seat and that made the experience very unhygienic and unhealthy. Moreover, around 10:15 one of the servers literally asked us to leave in different words and when we didn’t tip because of all these, one of the servers loudly shouted that “I was right.” In my opinion I don’t mind tipping, but be respectful. No respect whatsoever and they expect to tip. Terrible experience. Won’t come again. Thanks.
Clearly, ambience isn’t everything.
Word of advice for people seeing the reviews, don’t go there if you want a pleasant experience, service wise or hygiene wise.

Kara Mia Italian Cuisine in Markham is one of our family’s favorite spots! The food is not only delicious but also halal, and their warm hospitality makes the experience even more special! Restaurant Manager Falif, along with his team of servers including Joban and Talha, always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make sure we enjoy our meals to the fullest. Highly recommend this restaurant — keep up the great work!

The staff is courteous and accommodating. The Italian cuisine is delicious. The establishment is quite busy on Friday nights. It has great potential for growth and would benefit from a larger space.

If you are looking for a halal restaurant with your family this is the perfect place. Loved the ambience the prayer corner.
And the food was fab! Photos don’t do justice to the food. The saffron sauce didn’t look impressive to be at first in photos but when I tried the poutine it was the best poutine I ever had it was light and cheesy.
The ribs were so soft and the pasta di cante was so good.
Highly recommend

I’m happy there is halal Italian food. I absolutely love Italian food.
I tried the Fettuccine Kara Mia and it was excellent. The flavor was enhanced by the tomatoes.
Next time, I will try the other items on their menu.
