Horrible portion of food for price, not to mention burned half the meal.
They charged $15 for a single piece of Uni nigiri, so I expected exceptional quality—but even the seaweed was soggy. I paid $35 for a 7-piece chef’s selection nigiri set, but the sashimi slices were thin and dry. The truffle carbonara udon was visually unappealing and completely lacking in truffle flavor.
One of the best Japanese cuisines in town and with indoor parking that gets you straight up to the floors there are no better choices especially when it’s cold outside.
We reserved the private room with minimum bill of $600 and many of the dishes we ordered from the menu given to us were not available including those listed on desert menu. We had no choice but to eat items which wasn't our first choice. Room has no air circulation and had to request the server to switch on the fan to beat the suffocation. Horrible experience after paying over $850 including tax and tip.
Update: they have two vegetarian options for lunch. Lunch is basically ramen and sushi only.
I'm giving 5 stars because of our server Raijin.
We came here for the Mother's Day set menu and some A la Carte menu. I was very much looking forward to this Mother's Day dinner. But it will be the first and last time dining here. The server that took the order did not have a note pad or Ipad to record the order. 5 mins later, another server came back to confirm the set menu main and drinks. The a la carte items came on a timely basis and my kids enjoyed the food. The set menu, however, took a long time. Our first course sashimi came after they almost finish their meal. Almost an hour later, I inquire about the rest of our meals on the set menu with 2 different servers, only to find out that they did not put in the order? I am confused, it's a set menu. We got our first course, why aren't the rest of the courses ready? I was very disappointed & annoyed for a set meal not ready within an hour of seating. We decided to pay & leave and not have the rest of our set menu. The Asian women manager was VERY unprofessional and unhelpful an insisted that we should pay for the 2 full meals on the set menu. That is not acceptable. The food that were served were very good, kudos to the chefs, but the professionalism of the servers and the manager is subpar.
We came here for the Mother’s Day set menu, and my pregnant wife ordered the Kiwi Cucumber Lemonade mocktail that was included. When the drink arrived, she took a couple of sips and immediately noticed a strange bitter, alcoholic taste. Concerned, she passed it to me to try — I also had several sips and confirmed it tasted like alcohol. (I also have a serious stomach condition that doesn’t allow me to drink alcohol.)
We flagged this to the waitress, and she checked with the bartender — turns out it was a cocktail version with vodka, made by mistake. The waitress apologized and brought back the correct version, but by then both of us had unknowingly consumed alcohol. This was extremely upsetting and unacceptable, especially since my wife is pregnant and we were very clear about ordering a mocktail.
Even after this serious mistake, the restaurant made no offer to waive the drink or any part of the bill. I paid the full amount, and there was no gesture of accountability or reassurance that this kind of error would be taken seriously.
This kind of negligence could have serious consequences, and it completely ruined what should have been a special Mother’s Day meal. I hope the restaurant improves staff communication and takes more responsibility when handling mistakes like this in the future.
9 piece sushi for $45 is ridiculous for lunch special price...
Severely downgraded rating, prior to management and rebranding in Aug ‘24, this was a 5 star restaurant for the area. Frequented many many times a year. Now, nothing is worth the over priced Sashimi (which was the go to), clearly no longer about the food or experience, cheaper ingredients which are obvious. Chasing followers on IG posts and cheap happy hours.
Many posts saying the same, loyal customers who came for the food, down the drain.
Bring back the original Kiu!!!

Always enjoy coming here! Everyday there’s a special deal :)
Came here with my wife for the course meal. We ordered, and 10 mins later our first appetizer came. Then nothing came for the next hour And half. We watched other tables came in after us and already got their food and finished. I asked our waitress about our food and she told us she would check on it. Then 10 minutes later, the food came.
I suppose the waitress forgot to input our order or completely forgot about our table. Which wouldn't make sense considering she came and asked if everything was alright 4-5 times, even though there wasn't any food on the table.
Food was alright. Not really worth it in my opinion.
A group of 12 of us specifically chose this restaurant for their advertised $1 oyster special. Sadly, the excitement quickly faded when we were told they had already run out—by 7 PM on a Saturday night. It felt like a bait-and-switch: a promotion to draw us in, only to be let down with a completely different dining experience than expected. While the customer service was good, it doesn't excuse the disappointment of running out of a featured item so early during peak dinner hours
We've dined in 3 times over the past couple of months to really give this Kiu a shot... it always fell short of our expectations and we will not be returning.
The regular menu is pricey. Nothing wowed us about the truffle carbonara, nor the sushi fixed price menu.
The $1 oysters lack flavour- they could offer better sauces too rather than soy sauce.
The $1 candy shots were GREAT! super tasty, strong and standard size - amazing deal for $1.
The service and delivery of food was problematic. The waiter, bartender and hostess ALL asked us if we were waiting on any parts of our order. We were waiting on our sushi for about 20 minutes, only for the waiter to come back and ask what we ordered.
Happy hour everyday from 5:30pm -7:30pm, good view from the restaurant. Cinema in the same building. Chill and relax before or after movie. We try the bake oyster with the raw roe, we have to encore it.
