Excellent food and nice family ran atmosphere. Highly recommend
I had the pleasure of having a wonderful birthday lunch with a couple of other birthday hosts sharing with our friends. We chose this place because I've been here before and every time I come here, they are always on point with the amazing food, service and atmosphere. I had the Bake and Shark filet and the best signature drink they have which is the Bob Marley. Trust me! You will not be disappointed... Our server was Aseel and she made everyone welcome. Fantastic service and very friendly. If you see her... Make sure you say Hello to her and order one of their signature drinks! This is probably my 4th time here and I can't stop here... I'll keep going and I will keep recommending this amazing restaurant! Keep doing your thang! Can't wait to come back!
Delicious food, great service. Highly recommend.
The staff here are very attentive, kind and its great customer service. The food is tasty and its a great atmosphere for people to come and enjoy. The sorrel mimosas are on point and so are the are the BBQ Jerk Wings. The Caribbean brunch is also a great value.
There’s also a patio and upstairs with more seating.
The food was amazing and the service was very good. We will definitely be back...
Our order took 1 hour to get to us! Jerk Ribs were dry & tough, salmon was dry, ox tail was just bone & 2 pieces! Before any apologies they served us more water & how we liked the music. Food is way overpriced for what u get! Wasn't even offered a complimentary dessert for the long wait! When we asked why it was taking so long, we figured they were still killing the animals! First & last time coming here!
I brought a business partner here for dinner and all I can say is you can see the authentic connection and you just know this place is legit. What's lost in many restaurants today is over commercialization and the connection with Diakhia (Chef and Owner) with the feeling of hospitality.
The food was fantastic (it hit nostalgic memories for my business partner), service, experience and overall atmosphere was great.
Small businesses need and could deserve the support.
I really wanted to like this restaurant—I’ve been looking forward to trying it for a while, and finally went today. I did a takeout order and was greeted quickly and warmly upon arrival. I was seated by the bar while I waited, and ordered both food and a drink. Shoutout to the bartender—she mixes a fantastic drink, and I really enjoyed it. Big thanks also to Ashley, the waitress who took my order—she was super friendly and pleasant. The music was also great!
Now, onto the food. I ordered the Sunday Special and, unfortunately, it was disappointing. The first thing I noticed was that the food was very cold. The BBQ jerk had no jerk flavour, the rice and peas were dry, and while the macaroni pie had good flavour, it really needed a lot more cheese. The highlights were the callaloo and stew peas—both were delicious. However, the green banana salad had way too much raw garlic, which was overpowering. I also found a fish bone in my food, which was off putting because I didn’t order any seafood.
I genuinely wanted to love this place, especially since it’s so hard to find good Caribbean food. I'd definitely return just for the drinks and the great service. But at $29, the portions felt small for the price, and the food just didn’t meet expectations.
A Memorable Night at Laz Authentic Cuisine
Had another amazing experience at Laz Authentic Cuisine last night with friends! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for our evening out. Our newest addition to the group instantly fell in love with the goat curry—flavourful and tender, it was definitely a standout!
We shared a spread of delicious favourites: fried plantain, saltfish accra, and curry goat—each bite was bursting with authentic Caribbean flavour. I went with the chicken rasta pasta, and it was both satisfying and hearty. And as always, my sorrel mimosa did not disappoint—it hit the spot like it always does.
Special thanks to Diakhia for setting aside the rum and raisin bread pudding—a sweet ending to a great night.
Laz never misses. Looking forward to the next visit already!
Ahh what a delightful Caribbean experience! The service was excellent, and the food was even better than the service!
Restaurantji Recommends
Excellent! A higher end restaurant in a beautiful century home and it’s nicely decorated on the inside with a decently sized patio. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional, the manager even came out to greet every table at the end and we had a nice little chat! Will come back again.
I was very pleased with the service, staff very friendly. Food was excellent. Was big party. Will go back again !!!
INCREDIBLE food, service, and atmosphere. I got the Chicken Rasta Pasta and it was one of the best pastas I’ve ever eaten. The chicken melts in your mouth and everything has so much flavour! Our waitress, Alexia, was so incredibly kind and accommodating! Definitely recommend coming here for a drink or meal. :)
Laz restaurant is definitely main st markham’s hidden gem. The food was incredibly flavourful and our waitress Alexia was so sweet and welcoming! I definitely recommend!!
I am extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I told my friend about it and she booked for her birthday dinner. 1 day before her dinner she gets an email stating it would be $3.50 cake fee per person because we were bringing our own cake. (WOW)
Next DO NOT try their Sunday dinner special - The portions are a joke - almost like they were feeding a 4 year old. You order a main and get 5 sides(lol). Rice: dry and hard. Provisions:dry. Chicken:big joke: half a drumstick and a half of a thigh. Salade: wilted. They missed one of my sides. This for $30. It sounds like a lot but when the portions are x-tra small it’s not even worth it. There were so many complaints from the rest of the party guests: oxtail seasoned but hard. Fish tasted old. Pasta sauce: not tasting right. That’s just a few complaints. Then on top of that 3 of the ladies waited over1.5 hours for their food with non explanation from
The staff. Everyone else had finished their meal when their food arrived.(foolishness)
Overall I would not go back there and I am not recommending this restaurant. The opportunity is there for them to do great things but they need to be mindful of how they cook and present their food
