Quiet little sushi spot. Fresh salmon and tasty rolls. Great service too!
Food is decent but one of the younger chefs stares at me angrily with disgust every-time I have picked up an order. I am polite and just show up pay take my order and leave, and have given him no reason to constantly stare me down. Feeling extremely uncomfortable I smiled and said hello multiple times and he ignored me while continuing to stare with a very angry expression, even stopping his cooking. I will give him benefit of the doubt that he may have mistook me for someone he knows but out of fear for my safety I will stop getting food from this sushi shop.
Went for a family dinner. Wonderful spread and fresh sushi. Also got the salmon teriyaki, salmon was cooked perfectly, not over done like other places.
Hidden from the parking lot in a covered walkway, I wouldn't know it's there if not for Google. Fast fresh food. Clean place. Ample free parking. A hidden gem.
This is turning into my new go to for sushi in Markham. My wife and I love the food. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
This has been my go to sushi place for quite a few years, and I've found it to be the best sushi on this side of Markham. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant atmospheric, and the menu expansive without being overwhelming or diminishing quality. Highly recommend this place
This is now our local go-to for sushi. Fish is fresh. The rice to fish ratio for sushi is good. Also, the most salmon we have ever seen in salmon maki. Salad and miso that accompanies meals are also good. Very busy on Good Friday, New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve — order ahead.
I can’t say enough good things about Markham Sushi! It is truly my favourite sushi place in Markham. The staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting.
I’ve been here many times and will absolutely continue to eat in and order takeout from this spot. I’ve tried so many rolls and dishes, and not once have I been disappointed. The ingredients are always top quality, and the flavours are spot on. You can really taste the care and pride that goes into every dish. Whether I’m treating myself after a long day or catching up with friends, this place never fails to hit the spot. If you’re looking for amazing sushi and a place that feels like a second home, this is it!
Been coming here for years. Great ambiance and value.
Good food, good service

Terrible service! I strongly recommend that you do NOT choose this restaurant. Let me explain why.
Last time I came here to pick up my order, the server told me I needed to wait 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, it was still not ready. I simply asked how much longer I would have to wait, and they said, “If you want to pick it up, wait here. Otherwise, you can cancel the order.”
Isn’t that rude? Doesn’t that make no sense?
If you need more time to prepare the order, you could at least let me know politely. This is honestly some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced.
Decent sushi spot tucked away in a small open concept plaza, no evident signage outside for the restaurant at all (we almost didn’t think it was in the plaza .. thank god for google maps), maybe some would be nice but I understand if people have no difficulty finding it so why bother
Ordered the:
salmon lovers (great price),
shrimp tempura (crazy fresh),
and the hot sun kissed roll -
miso soup was perfect ,
& LOL at the salad.. what’s up with the ONE of each perfectly cut toppings? It seemed so rationed I wanted to give it back to themmm.. (I genuinely laughed)
Everything was good but the fish that lacked the freshness and butteryness it needed to make fish varieties distinguishable beside their texture… basically everything tasted the same and the sunkissed rolls has ALL the fish ontop of it (I’ve had better quality fish) …also the tips of the salmon were darker than the rest, possible due to the ends not being wrapped away properly if that makes sense.
Also completely preference but I like my salmon rolls maki style with the seaweed in the outside
Unfortunately the sun kissed roll stuck to the bottom of the take-away container [BTW 3 different containers were used (which I don’t understand), I think all could have gone in the same transparent container except the hot tempura! ]- had to use our hands to take pieces out which essentially broke the roll, the soya sauce was SO salty .. my lips puckered and the wasabi wasn’t wasabi enough for me/ tasted like the horseradish mixed stuff you get from metro or the grocery store which diminished the meal for me ; there’s a lot going just going on in this roll and I wasn’t tasting much when it came to the entire roll but avocado.
Big menu, will probably be back.. Thank you again!
There are only 8 tables available in this little restaurant. The place is small but cozy, however you will get disturbed a lot because they allow takeout customers to be standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for their order, which is like standing right next to your table watching you eat.
We came here on Black Friday evening with a reservation, it did not take long to be seated but we have waited for over an hour for our sashimi plate after order has been placed. We certainly understood that it is a holiday and they are very busy and they had tried their best to serve us. However, the extra long wait for our food is a very negative experience, it is very obvious that they were taking too many takeout orders than they were able to handle within their own capacity.
Afterall, foods were great, but we certainly will not come again.
Lowkey spot, private seatings and good food. Very nice
A Hidden Gem in Markham – Worth the Reservation!
If you're looking for an unforgettable sushi experience, look no further than Markham Sushi. This cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot may be small in size, but it's absolutely bursting with quality and charm. We had to make a reservation (and now we know why!)—every seat is clearly in high demand. (As you can see my picture doesn’t have much left)
From the moment we walked in, we knew we had stumbled upon something special. The ambiance is intimate and unpretentious, allowing the food to take center stage. And wow—every bite was a testament to fresh ingredients, skilled craftsmanship, and a deep respect for traditional Japanese cuisine.
The service was warm and attentive, and the attention to detail was impeccable. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the world of sashimi, this place will leave you wanting more. It is a family-run restaurant. I even had the chance to speak with one of the managers there, as I speak a bit of Korean.
Markham Sushi is a true hidden gem—don’t let its modest exterior fool you. It’s one of those rare places you want to tell everyone about… but also want to keep all to yourself.
