Sadly the quality of the food here has gone WAY downhill. Came in with my son today to get their lunch special. Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon were the choices. The Tuna was an off grey color with tinges of purple - did not taste or look fresh. The 'crab' was warm and tasted quite off, neither of us ate it. No drink/tea offered. Will not be returning.

We recently ordered the Maki Family Package from Oishi Sushi in Thornhill and, unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. We were looking forward to a fresh sushi dinner, but what we received did not meet expectations at all.
The biggest issue was the freshness. The sushi rice was dry and felt like it had been prepared hours earlier. The fish and other fillings lacked the clean taste you expect from sushi; instead, they tasted flat and were not appealing. Sushi is all about freshness, and sadly this order really fell short in that area.
Presentation was also below average. The rolls looked uneven and a bit messy, not like the neat and appetizing pictures shown online. When you order a family package, you expect it to look as good as it tastes, but this one missed that mark.
On a positive note, the service was acceptable. The staff was polite during pickup, but the quality of the food overshadowed everything else. Considering the price, we were hoping for a much better experience.
Overall, I would rate our visit 2 stars. It wasn’t inedible, but it was definitely not enjoyable, and we won’t be rushing back. With so many good sushi restaurants in Thornhill, Oishi Sushi really needs to focus on freshness and quality if they want customers to return.

He touched the raw tuna and salmon sashimi with his bare hands. $15 for 6 pieces of sashimi seems a little overpriced to me and he was not wearing gloves to prepare the food either I’m pretty sure that’s mandatory in all food establishments especially those that cook and handle food. I won’t come back here.
I really wanted to try a new place but was very disappointed. It did not taste fresh and was falling apart.
Had to throw out most of it.
Ordered a take out on a Tuesday.
Not fresh at all specially the Wakame salad was barely green we threw it right out it smelled like chlorine! the rolls were nothing special the Mall’s and Groceries taste better and are more fresh.
what a shame.
Simple sushi nothing bad but not a 5 * as well
Probably more of a restaurant for take out. The restaurant seats 4-5ppl. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Little hole in the wall kinda place. The food is incredible, fresh and tastes really good. The owner is an experienced sushi chef who knows his stuff. The prices are very reasonable too. We order take out as there's no space to sit. Best sushi in town hands down.
Very good fresh food, no MSG!

Ordered takeout - sashimi, spicy maki set and eel don. Was super unimpressed with the quality of food. Could probably get equally good sushi from any grocery store when it’s fresh. Cheaper than other sushi places though…
Owner is great super friendly! Sushi would be below average quality and portion wise. Flavour is average. So overall I think at the price point it is as expected. Atmosphere no comment as I got takeout.
