I recently visited this steakhouse with high expectations, especially considering the premium pricing and the fact that it markets itself specifically as a steakhouse.

Unfortunately, the food quality did not match the price point. I ordered my steak medium and specifically asked (more than once) about how pink it would be, since every steakhouse prepares it differently. I made it clear that I wanted a true medium. What I received was clearly medium rare.

When I raised my concern, instead of offering to fix the issue or replace the steak, the staff began explaining and justifying why it was “correct.” This isn’t a courtroom, when a customer is unhappy with their meal, the appropriate response is to either remake it properly or adjust the bill. Good service is about resolving issues, not debating them.

On top of that, prices are high and suggested tips start at 20% and up, which sets an expectation for both quality and service that simply wasn’t met.

If you’re serious about steak and value both quality and service, I would suggest reconsidering before spending your time and money here.
Will I be coming back? Definitely not.

I have lived in the area for decades and finally had the opportunity to go now. For my first visit, it was more than what I expected (based on what I have heard). The food was fabulous, and with delicious aromas everywhere, it was hard to decide what to eat. The staff were amazing, attentive and pleasant. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars across the board was solely based on the environment and here are my reasons: 1.keeping with the history and nature of the building, the floor plan and location of the restrooms are not very “accessible” so if you plan to go, do your research to make sure the location works for you. 2. Due to space limitations, the tables are a little small for my liking. I say this only because I love to eat and don’t want to be limited ordering based on table space, so needless to say we did not have enough table space for the amount of food we ordered. 3. Know the history and the style of the establishment before you go, this restaurant is not a modern minimalist design, it is older and full of history so the atmosphere and design may not be for everyone. And those are my reasons.

Other than that, we still talk about the meal we had weeks ago and are looking forward to our next visit. And i’m sure I’ll still have difficulty choosing what I want to eat and where my cutoff point will be.

My partner and I went to Peters Fine Dining for Valentines Day. The food was good, but there were a couple of issues, and one big problem (described at the end of the review) that will prevent us from returning. First, when we walked in, there were a few servers at the front chatting about something next to the bar. The man with the dark hair, who I presume is the owner, saw us but didn’t say anything for about a minute. The reception area is small, so we felt a bit awkward just standing there. The host/owner eventually took our coats and someone seated us. We had escargot, the New York Strip-loin, Ribs, and limoncello for dessert. Ribs were a little underwhelming, but everything else was delicious. Service was good, a little old school. Didn’t ask us how the food tasted, but they did constantly fill water, take plates on time, etc. At one point, I was eating bread, which was dipped in escargot & garlic/oils over my plate, and the waiter came from behind and moved my plate to the right side. I immediately reached for the plate again as I didn’t want anything to drip on the table and he grabbed it back from me to put to the side. I understand he did this because the entrees were coming shortly, but it could have been done in a more professional way. My partner also noticed two staff staring and pointing at us. We were hoping that it was just a conversation about serving/taking care of us, but as a visibly interracial couple, we did wonder whether it was something else. Other reviews mention racism, and coupled with the big issue that I’m about to mention, which is also the reason we won’t be returning, I don’t doubt it for a second. On the front reception wall, we noticed two bills with Donald trump’s picture on them. I believe they were even framed. We also saw some US flag trinkets/decor underneath the photo. Given the current state of affairs, leaving this decor up is nothing short of intentional. There are photos of the owner with some celebrities on the diagonal wall, but seeing this one front and center above the reception desk was quite jarring. We have no problem with people representing or taking pride in their country (with a couple exceptions, iykyk), but as a long-standing Canadian establishment, the U.S. pride in particular was strange. I looked around for Canadian or even other flags/country-specific decor, but didn’t spot any. While it is the owner’s right to decorate his restaurant how he wishes, this decor left a very bitter taste in our mouths. I told my parents, who would often dine here back in the day, and they were disappointed - my mother said she would have walked out immediately. Looking back, we should have, but finding another spot on Valentines night would have been difficult and we had been looking forward to this date for a month. I thought about calling the restaurant to open a respectful dialogue about it, but based on some other reviewers’ experiences, it seems like this establishment is very set in its ways. It’s unfortunate, but even the best food won’t override our personal values.

My husband surprised me last night for my birthday. We had the private room downstairs which I had never seen. It was beautiful, intimate, warm and came with our own bar and staff as well as washrooms. The service, food and the warmth of the staff was fabulous! A number of our guests were there for the first time and they all commented on how amazing the food was! Peter’s never disappoints and last night was no exception!

Thank you Tom, for your kindness, care and attention to detail! Your staff are amazing, your food is delicious and I’m so glad that we celebrated another birthday there! Thank you again for a wonderful dining experience!

This prime rib is a travesty, the amount of gray overcooked, dry
Rest of the food was good, standout is the garlic bread

This retro-charm restaurant has been around since the 80s, serving up top-notch food, service, and ambiance. We celebrated our kid's birthday there and had the best fine dining experience! 🎄 It was a bonus that it was decked out for Christmas.
Shoutout to Tom, one of the owners, who was super kind, and Nick, who took care of us with awesome service.

Keep in mind, it's a bit pricier than other 7-course fine dining spots we've tried (think 360 CN Tower, French fine dining in Montreal, Italian, or cruises). Order wisely and skip the takeaway – you're paying for the experience 😊.

I always thought food steak houses were downtown, but Peters was right up there. Great service and excellent food… the prime rib was absolutely mouth watering as well as their ribeye steaks. The table side Caesar salad is absolutely incredible and one of the best I’ve ever had!
