Decent Shanghainese restaurant at First Markham Place. There is a good variety of food that appeals to the Shanghainese palette. The food though was a bit too salty in my view when compared to what I’ve had in Shanghai.

In terms of quality of ingredient they use, it is way better than the same restaurant back in Beijing. They have a very close cooking technique compared to the location in China. Probably the best Shanghainese cuisine restaurant I had in Canada.

We are looking for a Shanghai cuisine restaurant and saw this one. Among 5 dishes we ordered, we gave 5 out of 10 to Lotus Root(桂花糖藕), 8 to Shanghai Style Rice Cake (上海炒年糕), 6.5 to Bamoo Shoot, 7 to Hot and Sour soup and 7 to Pork Bun (小笼包). Lotus Root is a bit disappointing as it doesn’t taste like the dish I grew up with - a bit mushy and doesn’t have that sweet yet not too rich (甜而不腻) taste.
