“? Awesome Shanghai Shaomai Restaurant, a must-try recommendation! ?
I recently checked in at Shanghai Shaomai Restaurant and it was really a surprise! The dishes here instantly brought me back to home. I recommend three must-try dishes:
1. Little Chaos: The soup is clear and delicious, and the Chaos skin is thin and full of fillings. You can feel the delicious soup bursting in your mouth with every bite, which is super satisfying!
2. Shaomai with diced bamboo shoots: The crispness of the bamboo shoots is perfectly combined with the freshness of the meat. The skin is thin and filling, and it melts in your mouth. When dipped in soy sauce, it’s so delicious that you can’t stop eating it!
3. Duck blood vermicelli: The vermicelli is chewy, the duck blood is smooth and tender, and the soup base is delicious. Served with coriander and fried tofu, this bowl is simply a warm and healing soup.
Not only does it taste great, the environment in the store is also very clean and tidy, and the service attitude is also warm and thoughtful. The price is also very affordable, definitely worth a try! If you also like Shanghainese snacks, this store is definitely not to be missed!
❤️ Highly recommended to friends who love food! You must try it~“

“This is one of very few Shanghai dishes restaurants in Toronto. Disregard some of the reviews on the internet, we found it to be surprisingly good. The interior is a little bit out of dated, but it gives a feel of old Shanghai which we like. The service is better than we anticipated, efficient and simple, the waitress/ store manager can speak Shanghai dialect, which is a plus. The food we tried is the Egg Braised meatball $21.99 very tender and not too salty, the veggies inside is so yummy, although we never tasted egg inside meatball in Shanghai, we liked it. Stir Fried Pork Liver $18.99 is so good, it is so tender and the source is tasty, must try. Tomato and shrimp crispy rice crust $21.99, it is nice combination of sweet and sour, crispy and soft texture. House special pan fried bun $9.99 is what we aim for, consistently good. Steamed pork bun $9.99 is also very yummy, must order item every time. Overall, it is a very decent Shanghai food restaurant which is worth trying.“

“I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and the food always hits the spot, especially the signature soup dumplings—my absolute favorite! I do wish the dumplings were a bit hotter, though. As for other dishes, the Shanghai noodles could use a bit more flavor and depth, but overall, the other dishes are exactly what you’d expect.“
