This is a Canton style Chinese restaurant. It is good for family gathering. The food quality is going downhill. It was good the first two times I went there but this time was not great at all. The beef was too salty, the xo sauce stir fried rice noodles only numb your tongue but no taste. The deep fried spicy squid was starchy. The Chinese Style Beef Tenderloin has very little beef but onions. It's quite disappointed.

We ordered 2 dishes. They took the wrong order for one of the toppings on my fish soup noodle. It was also super salty, can’t drink the fish soup at all. When we paid the order, the waitress took the money right after we put down, and came back saying we are short on tips(It was a few cents short literally). I immediately got very angry and thinking this attitude doesn’t deserve any tips. I also work in a tip industry myself, there are ppl not paying tips, miss calculate tips, or they just don’t have enough changes, I never chase after tips! WTH!

Paid over $50 for three takeout dishes, they were awful. Beef was tough and broccoli was raw and tasteless. Same with the black bean beef, green peppers were way undercooked and no flavour to the whole dish!!! Very disappointed with this meal!!!!

Waitresses are always friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and a lot of variety. I often buy party trays from here too

Star Chef in Markham offers authentic Hong Kong–style cuisine. Service was polite and relaxed, portions fair, and flavours spot on. Enjoyed the beef congee, flavourful satay beef fried noodles, and a really strong Hong Kong milk tea.

Food is about pricey, portion to small especially for the fried clans. Taste is ok.

Not too bad and not too exciting either. The food is on the salty side. We ordered the oyster egg scrambled. Had to use a magnifying glass to find the tiny oysters

My go to Chinese restaurant. It seems they improve the quality of the food. Sweet n Sour pork was good. Typical Cantonese food. Complementary 雪糕紅豆冰 before 5pm with noodle. Its 豬肚 need to improve as it tasted weird.

We were in the area looking for something to eat and spotted this place. We ordered the crab & corn thick soup, Singapore rice noodles with shrimp & pork, chinese broccoli with beef and snow peas in garlic sauce. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed all the dishes. The staff were friendly and the place was clean.

I am being completely neutral about this restaurant, but I still have to give it a 2-star rating.

There are several reasons for this decision:

1) They keep changing their promotion regarding the red bean ice cream. It has shifted from being included in all-day meals, to only being available during afternoon tea, and then to just specific dishes during afternoon tea. While it's fine for them to change their offerings, they should at least provide advance notice to customers. This inconsistency frustrated my uncle and family friends. Personally, I would prefer to go to Tim Hortons or a fast food chain for cold drinks, so it’s not a huge deal for me.

2) The waitress service really needs improvement. Based on my first-hand experience, as well as feedback from my family friends, the service is not very accommodating. The staff doesn’t engage in small talk with customers unless they know them personally. Their tone can make it feel as if they assume we can't afford to dine there.

3) The food quality is also quite average, especially considering the high prices on the menu.

Much busier than I thought, it was Monday evening at 6:20pm, and we had to line up waiting for the table. Memories of the servers surprised me too, they didn't need to drop down any notes when I placed order. The entire team was very friendly and offered assistance without us asking. Because it was full and some customers talked very loudly, it was super noisy.

The Singaporean vermicelli is pretty standard - has some “wok hay”

They also have fish soup noodle with the same concept and options as Deer Garden: soup base, type of noodle, 2 toppings, a drink and side dishes with additional cost. Got the gingko & pepper fish soup - compared to Deer Garden, it was pretty bland. Pretty generous with the beef brisket though

Big bowl of noodles with customizable options and a cold drink for a very reasonable price. If you’re in the area, I’d say it’s worth a visit!
