What a experience! From all Michelin 1-3 star restaurants I have been, this experience is certainly beyond any restaurants I have been, it’s unforgettable and unbelievable, definitely it’s a hilarious story to tell all my friends whenever food/restaurant topics come up.

After my initial visit, which was unfortunately cut short due to a reservation error, the restaurant reached out, took full responsibility, and invited me back to make things right.
I returned for dinner and, despite the long trip from downtown Toronto (close to two hours each way), the experience this time was much better. The service was attentive and professional throughout the evening. Management followed through on their apology by offering a complimentary carafe of sake and an $80 dining credit, which I appreciated as a sincere gesture.
The food was excellent — well-executed, thoughtful, and clearly deserving of its reputation. We did order a few additional items beyond the standard menu, which brought the final bill to around $400. Given what we ordered, the quality and pacing of the meal felt appropriate.
While the original situation should never have happened, I do give credit to the team for how seriously they handled the recovery and for making a genuine effort to improve the guest experience. I’m glad I gave them another chance.

Umi’s Omakase is hands down the best omakase experience in the GTA and the perfect spot for a special occasion lunch. Every piece at my birthday lunch felt luxe and thoughtfully curated, from fresh uni to perfectly seared black cod with creative garnishes that made each bite unique. The chef’s selection really showcased premium, seasonal fish, and the progression of courses never felt repetitive. Service was warm yet polished, giving the whole experience a refined but relaxed vibe that suited a celebratory lunch. The brûlée-style tamago at the end was unreal—custardy, lightly sweet, with a caramelized top that tasted like a playful sushi take on crème brûlée and left a lasting impression. For the quality, creativity, and execution, the lunch omakase offers excellent value, and the extra 5% cash discount is a welcome bonus that makes “spoiling ourselves” feel a little easier. My husband and I left already planning to come back every month, and Umi is now an easy 10/10 recommendation for anyone looking for a memorable omakase experience

Came here for the Omakase Dinner to celebrate a birthday! The food, the ambiance and the service were excellent, especially for the price. There were a variety of fish served and an option for a la carte, which we chose to have the Wagyu with Fois Gras and Uni. They even brought of a slice of cake, on the house, to recognize the birthday! I would love to go again and try out their lunch menu.
