We came here hoping it would be a decent spot given the convenient location right within J-Town. Unfortunately the food was nothing to write home about, service was subpar and that’s being generous.
The food was not too bad although it was nothing special. The Omurice missed the mark completely by that I mean the egg wasn’t even on the damn RICE! The pasta we got said fettuccine but instead what came out was something similar to a conchiglie (conch shell pasta). The katsu dish that we got was not too bad so no major complaints there although sauce felt a bit too strong.
The SERVICE has GOT to be the worst part of the experience. We sat with 5 people and a baby and ordered 5 dishes. The baby was in the stroller the whole time asleep and this place had the AUDACITY to charge us gratuity because they considered us having 6 people?! Make it make sense. Whoever runs this place should be ashamed at the way they handled this. My parents told me to not say anything but I was absolutely fuming and had to be held back.
At this point I was HEATED. This is because they also left a portable heater running on HIGH the WHOLE TIME. Place felt like a greenhouse in the middle of the summer.
Just overall terrible experience. Just get Ubereats if you want to try. Avoid the terrible place and terrible staff (who not once even said thank you to us). This place lacked everything even a simple thing called manners.

We don't want to cook for this 2024 Christmas and tried the pre-ordered Tanuki Holiday Feast To-Go! Excellent value for a well-balanced menu. The turkey is boneless, tender and moist. Portion more than enough for five of us.

My husband had a sudden craving for omurice. We were in the area and it did not disappoint! Great service as well.

They have great holiday platter. Food is great. Turkey is moist. Sides are flavorful. However they’re NEVER on time. Even though you book a time slot for pick up, they’re almost always at least 30 mins or more late. This shouldn’t happen when they know the number of orders ahead of time. It’s not like it’s being ordered on the day of. Time management is terrible.

Been there with my family, the atmosphere makes up for the rather limited menu. Will be back.

Reasonably priced and well seasoned food complimented by attentive, friendly, and professional service from Tristan and Christi out front.
Great food and atmosphere. Tristan and Christienne served me and my gf an awesome date night. I recommend the duck breast and espresso creme brûlée!

If you are looking for a brunch place that serves more than just the usual fare, this is the place to go. They also have your usual brunch pancakes and eggs Benedict so not too worry. This place is fusion done well.
I've been visiting Tanuki for a number of years now, however, I've been finding the food and service to be quite inconsistent. Food isn't always the greatest both presentation and taste wise. Service is standard but I find on the weekends it is much better.

The menu has a decent amount of choices without being overwhelming.
We aren’t very hungry so we go with appetizers to go with sake.
The clam is very fresh, no sand, and they come with bread to soak up all the wonderful juices.
Grill saba is moist and flavourful. It’s very meaty too, good quality.
The fried oyster is huge! $16 for 4 pcs sounds expensive but when I see the size of the oysters, I think it’s pretty fair. My personal guess is that they use Fanny bay, cause it’s creamy and large!

My wife and I had their omurice and pork belly ramen. The omurice was done well. Very tasty and the omelette was perfect runny.
However, their pork belly ramen was lacking flavor. The soup was bland, and the black fungus lacked flavor.

The ramen lacked authenticity and fell short of expectations. My wife can make a much better, more flavorful bowl at home

If I could give more stars I would. I discovered this spot earlier this year, and I’ve been back at least 5 times since. The food is delicious, the service is great and efficient. I love the rotational menu options and their brunch is a 10/10 every time. I definitely recommend checking them out!
